I really like this daybed. It's beautiful and sturdy. The assembly was a pain in the neck for me because I did it alone and I don't assemble things for a living. The link spring required some assembly, unlike the trundle, and I was a little disappointed about that. I made some "stupid" mistakes that are only stupid to me now that I look back on it. If you're not a pro, you might want to be aware of the following with regard to assembly. Follow the instructions, but also keep in mind:

LINK SPRING: Make sure ALL springs are attached as directed before you attempt to connect the side supports. They recommend you attach all of the coils before you unfold it, but it's hard to tell what's going on at that stage. So after you unfold it, check to see if all of the coils and all of the metal "strands" are attached. It'll make a big difference after you "line up the center beams and push down". After you push down, it'll be impossible to attach any detached springs because of the tension. And don't wait until after you bolt on the side support beams to check for loose coils or strands because you'll find yourself right back at step one.

SHORT POSTS and TALL POSTS: You can tighten the tall and short posts to each of the two side rails, but don't tighten the tall posts to the back rail too much because when it comes time to put the link spring in, it'll be too tight of a fit. I scratched up my rear post trying to wedge the link spring in before I realized I needed to loosen up the bolts for some more play. Tighten them after you get the link spring in. The instructions for the link spring recommend that you don’t tight the nuts too tights until after it's attached to the daybed. But you also need to be aware of how far you tighten the posts to the back rail.

LARGE RUBBER WASHERS: The easiest way to get these in place between the link spring and posts, (in order to attach the link spring to the daybed), is to use the allen key to find the hole in the washer from the linkspring-side of the post. With the link spring a little bit away from the post, (which is only possible if the tall posts are not fastened too tight to the back rail), push the allen key through the link spring assembly, and thread it through the washer. Once you get the allen key past the hole in the link sping, through the hole in the washer, and into the hole in the post, push the allen key further until you meet up with the long screw on the other end. Once you feel the end of the screw from the opposite end, do a reverse. Use the screw to push the allen key out of the holes, and you will have successfully threaded all three holes in order to fasten the nut and small washer on the linkspring-side of the post. The instructions show you how to do it starting with the screw alone. But I wasted so much time trying to get the screw through the post, through the washer, and then through the link spring. You can’t see what's going on that way, and you’ll have a hard time guestimating where to place the washer so the screw can slide through the hole.

Aside from those things, assembly was relatively straightforward. It took me about 4 hours but I’m sure it would have taken less time if I didn’t run into so many dilemmas. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.

Received timely, however pre-drilled holes in metal bed frames were not aligned correctly and had to waste a lot of time straightening and cleaning holes so posts would tighten to bed frames.

Comments about San Marco Daybed:

I bought this VERY beautiful daybed for my granddaughters, so they have something special when they come to visit us! The quality of this bed is exceptional!!! I'm certain it will last a lifetime!!!! I LOVE IT!!! A bit difficult to assemble though, so make sure you have at least two people to do it!

Service and delivery comments:

I ordered this daybed over the phone, on Wednesday evening, and the customer service was OUTSTANDING!!!! I was told it would be delivered the following Tuesday, but it was delivered Saturday - three days ahead of schedule! It arrived in perfect condition. I've definitely bookmarked Hayneedle.com in my "favorites!" Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

        Comments about San Marco Daybed:

While the bed is very pretty, it came with no instructions and took several attemps to put it together. The frame was easy enough but the springs were another story. I finally re-engineered it and it seems to be holding. I took a 3 hour nap to test it!
