I am very happy with the product. Some reviews commented on a few rough patches that could have been sanded smoother - that's true, but also no big deal really. That's the only difference in rating it 4 vs. 5 overall for me. I did not see any problems in color inconsistency. They are easy to build and seem very durable. Most importantly, my kids LOVE them! I would shop simplybunkbeds again. And the price was good, even before the sale! The sale price made it a "no-brainer."

The bed is used in a childs guest room. It is low enough to facilitate making the bed. However I found that some of the boards were warped, making them difficult to fit and others had stain runs and rough spots. For the price I paid I thought the quality of the workmanship would be better.

    Misleading, Poor Craftmanship & Service

Comments about Savannah Bookcase Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:

I placed my order on April 10th and today May 22nd I was finally able to complete the assembly of the top bunk. That is a whole other story and Hayneedle did try to make that right, but I was still left with no bed for my newest foster child for 3 weeks and only a half assembled bunk for 3 more weeks. At the end of the day this bed was made poorly crafted, the wood was poor quality full of ugly large knots, no predrilled holes for the ladder, the side rails or the safety wires. In the picture the bed scale looks like a child could sit on the bottom bunk but in reality you cannot there is only about 20 inches between the top of the matress and the bottom rail of the top bunk. The actual product only loosely resembles this picture, do not let it fool you. I would not recommend this product or manufacturer to anyone.

Comments about Savannah Bookcase Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:

This bed seems good for smaller children. Anyone in their teens will either be over the weight limit or too tall for the bed. my son has toys that are not very stable on the headboards for the top and bottom bunk and his normal movement (even jumping which is not allowed) has not knocked any over because the bed is extremely stable.

My biggest complaint is that when I started pulling the pieces out of the boxes, I realized after a few pieces that my hands had turnd red from the staining still being wet. At that opint, it had already stained my carpt. Everything went back into the box to dry out before we ruined anymore carpet. Once dry, everything was great. The other thing that happened was they sent 16 bolts to assemble the rails, 15 of them were fine, the 16th (or course the last one) required a nut on the other end to tighten, there was no way to screw it into the bed. I had to run to the hardware store and buy a replacement

If you are a parent reading to your child in the lower bunk, make sure you roll out of the bed becuase if you try to get up normally, you will bang your head or scrape your back

Comments about Savannah Bookcase Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:

It is very well built. We put it together in about 2 hours. For the experienced it would probably go faster. The shelf would fit any regular reading book or small toys. I would add a word of caution if you get this for a little kid because the top bunk rails do not meet the shelf on one side. Also the backing for the shelves is a stapled with a solid piece of wood. Very beautiful well made bed overall. Should last my rowdy bunch for along time.

Comments about Savannah Bookcase Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:

I purchased this bunkbed for my two young daughters. They love it! As soon as the bed was assembled, they started filling the bookcase. The bookcase is thin, but it can hold smaller books & small stuffed animals. I love the wood! This is my first time purchasing bunkbeds, but i was a bit surprised on the overall height of the beds when they are stacked. I am tall & it is hard to get down on the bottom bunk. Not sure if this is a standard height for a bunkbed or not. Other than that, we love them!

Comments about Savannah Bookcase Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:

[...] I hired help to put the two sets together because I am unable. They said assembly was easy. Rough surfaces on rails were the only drawbacks. Increased sleep space from 2 to 4. Bookcase area a real plus. Low profile a must for us cause of low ceilings. Overall a good product.
