Comments about Serta San Paolo Collection Deluxe Sofa - Mink Brown:
We needed a sofa for a basement just 'finished' to fit into this new multi-use room. We also needed a fabric that minimized (or repelled) spilt food and drink but that appeared neither too formal nor too rough and tumble. We wanted a sofa that didn't hug the floor but was elevated by legs at least a few inches to make cleaning underneath possible. (We are also generally concerned about off-gassing from pressed wood products, so we were happy to see that the frame is solid hardwood. There is no information about possible offgassing from the foam and polyester used.) And, most practically, we needed a relatively small piece of furniture that could make it down a tight staircase to be assembled as easily as possible.
The Serta San Paolo answered most all these needs very well. The fabric design mixes well with just about any other scheme, and the general design is unobtrusive (if not shy and modest). Changed your mind about whether you wanted a rec room atmosphere instead of a generic 21st-century living room? The San Paolo can take it--just vary the details.
In the same way, the San Paolo could easily be used as an affordable but principled piece in an office waiting room or for another commercial usage.
We did find the support the sofa gives less firm than it might be, which seems odd in a sofa made by Serta. For short periods of a couple of hours at least, the San Paolo is comfortable. We've not spent more time than this on the San Paolo.
A point in the San Paolo's favor is the media available, a short video well worth watching if you're considering a purchase. The video gives suggestions for using this item in many different settings and moods and, more crucially, explains how this sofa, boxed into a couple of cubes, can be assembled by 2 people in a very few minutes. In its boxed form, of course, it can be taken into rooms it wouldn't fit in if in 1 piece. This was a major reason we bought the sofa, and the claims about quick assembly worked for us.
