Description

The Silverton Kicksled offers a great workout as well as an exciting trip down the mountain. The sled body is made from American white ash, while the runners are made from tempered steel with polished and waxed edges. The sled's handle is constructed from a willow branch which has been hand-carved for a perfect fit and polished to show its natural, unique beauty. Multiple coats of UV-resistant, lead-free finish will protect the sled from the elements. The sled also includes an elastic pocket behind the seat that fits a sweater or a lunchbox. Folding down the sled is easy, and it reduces in size from 36 inches to 7 inches tall. Each kicksled is signed and numbered by the sledmaker in the Silverton, CO, workshop, giving it a unique personalized quality. You also have to option to hand-engrave your child's name right onto the sled. Lettering is 2 inches tall and runs lengthwise up the center of the sled. The kicksled seats an adult or a child. For dogsledding, the welded rings on the front of the runners make it easy to harness a dog. Weight capacity: 300 pounds. Dimensions: 72L x 24W x 36H inches.

Lug Factor
An important aspect to consider when shopping for the right sled, lug factor refers to the amount of effort required to lug the sled back to the top of the hill for the next ride.

• Easy
  These sleds have a negligible weight and are easily pulled behind the rider on the journey to the top.


• Moderate
  Sleds with moderate lug factor are middleweight sleds that require some light effort to pull or carry up the hill.


• Heavy
  Heavy lug factor means the sled will require some effort to be pulled up the hill. Parents or supervisors of younger sledders should be prepared to assist with lugging these sleds after a few rides.

Control Level
