Over the last 2 years I have bought 15 (!) of these planters. They are affordable, look good in any interior and some of them you can actually put outside. They are sturdy, well designed from a technical point of view. The container may be 30" high but the planter itself is only 20", so you don't waste a lot of potting soil. You can easily lift out the container part out of the planter, fill it with the Lechuza-pon (included) and potting soil fill it with plants and then place it back in the planter. You fill the planter with water at the very last so you don't have to lug all that heavy stuff. Depending on the size of the container you can fill it with 2 to 4 gallons of water. There is an indicator that tells you when the planter is full and when you need to add water. I did all these planters myself and I am not very handy with technical stuff. Read the instructions carefully, decide whether you want to use them inside (leave the little red plugs in) or outside (unscrew the little red plugs on the planter and container, so that excess rain water can drain out. Lechuza product is made from the same material as the playmobil building block and toys. They are easy to clean. I highly recommend using these self watering planters.

Comments about Square Lechuza Cubico Cottage Self-Watering Resin Planter:

These planters are beautiful. A neighbor already called them a work of art. They were easy to set up. I don't know yet how the self-watering feature will work, but I'm anxious for warmer weather so that I can get them planted. They are very sturdy and came in a timely fashion and were well packaged.

finally getting a chance to let everyone know how much I loved these containers. I purchased last spring and had them on my front porch all summer along with the 16X16X30 container filled with red geraniums. Loved them. I did store in garage as we do have snowy winters .

I ordered two planters. They showed up as beautiful as they looked on the website. I haven't tried the self watering function yet, but they have already proven their worth just by the way they lifted the look of my plants and my house.

These are beautiful and well made. I don't know that the self-watering system works... it remains to be seen (plants are alive but annuals keep dying). Even so, they are worth the cost. I've compared many types of planters and these look great outside by our front entry.

Comments about Square Lechuza Cubico Cottage Self-Watering Resin Planter:

I was looking for a large outdoor planter that had a contemporary design, and that was not made in China. I came across this particular planter in my search. At first, I wasn't sure about the wicker-look, but the mocha color and shape of the planter was appealing. I also saw that it was made in Germany and that it is self-watering. I was not familiar with self-watering planters but it did seem like a good idea. The planter is also good for outdoors and indicates it can handle most weather conditions. The price was fairly reasonable for the larger size so I decided to give it a try and ordered two.

I received them much quicker than expected (Hayneedle's customer service is awesome.) I opened the well-packed boxes and was very pleased with the look and quality! They are very substantial and do not look cheap at all. I planted two red Cordylines in them and they look beautiful! One of my concerns was that they would tip over in the wind. Well, there have been a few days that wind gusts were over 40 mph and they did not tip (however, the Cordylines did not do as well with the wind.)

Overall, I would highly recommend this product!

                          1 Question About This Product
Q: "Can this planter (woven plastic resin) set in dirt?"
A: There is a drainage hole at the bottom of the planter that allows excess water to drain. This should not be blocked. Perhaps if it sits on gravel?
