The picture doesn't do any justice for this product! I had chosen the white color (has a black seat) based on another reviewer's suggestion to be able to see it better in the dark. Good choice! To adjust the height, you just lift up on the seat and move it to the desired position. According to the instruction manual, this chair is rated for 350 pounds which is 50 pounds higher than what I've read in the ad here.

I've spent many nights out with my Celestron 6SE with times being on my knees on frozen ground, or, with my back arched over to look through the eyepiece. My 1st night out with the StarBound chair proved to be the end for pains after a few hours of observing!

I also gave this chair a workout using every height level. I had set the seat to its lowest level to see how it would be to observe straight up at zenith.

The moon was setting and I adjusted the seat for its maximum height to look thru the eyepiece - every view setting was good!

This product makes star gazing comfortable. I also had a few reservations about buying this product at 1st, especially, the price for "just a chair". Reading other reviews had convinced me, and, yes, I have to agree the other reviewers were right! This is more than "just a chair" and worth the price. It gives me better back support than the lawn chair I was using in the past!

I am a pretty big guy, 270 lbs. 6 ft 1 in. I find this chair to be rather uncomfortable. The seat is much too small for a guy my size and the back rest (steel rods) do not cut it. It could be considered strong to handle a guy my size, however it certainly is not worth the price paid. Perhaps a third to a half of what is being charged but not this price. I went to a store, [...], and saw an adjustable bar stool which is much more comfortable and supports much better and costs a LOT less.Up to this point I have been pleased with the other products I have purchased from this web site but I could not honestly in good faith recommend this chair to my friends.Respectfully, D. Holt

          Comments about StarBound Observers Chair:

This is a great chair. The design is well thought out, the materials are solid, the construction is excellent, and the overall chair is of high quality. I'm glad I bought it, and I'll gladly buy another if I ever need one. Nonetheless, I gave it four stars because the chair needs two more things to make it genuinely complete: 1.) a bungee to prevent the seat pan from falling all the way to the bottom (I added one myself), and 2.) an adjustable foot rest for when the seat is in the higher positions (I'll make one soon).

What can I say, it's a chair, but it works very well and is solidly built. Highly recommended if you want to get rid of that sore back from leaning over all the time, sit down and enjoy the view.
