Nice Torch - cheap pole

By Pete the Putterer

from Connecticut

Comments about Maui Tiki Torch:

The copper part of torch as well as the cradle that holds it look great! However,I can't believe such cheap wood poles are used to support the torch, and the cap has no chain.

Excellent torch -- terrible pole

By Gardner

from Oklahoma

Comments about Maui Tiki Torch:

I have only the highest ratings for both Hayneedle's handling of my order of 12 torches on poles and of the quality of the actual torches. My low rating of one star is due to pole to which the torch is attached. It is made from wood, not metal so it cannot be welded. I think a 2 MPH breeze would cause the torch to blow over because it is so top heavy.
My remedy was to trash the wood poles and replace them with metal poles with a "foot" at the bottom. The result was two pieces of metal stuck in the ground which provides the stability needed.
Because the threads attaching the pole to the metal holder for the torch were not a standard size, I placed a 1/2" nut inside the base of the holder and welded the nut to the holder which provided a standard thread to attach the new metal pole to. If you have access to a welder and a metal pole, you will love this product. Otherwise, shop elsewhere.
