Comments about Steiner 8x42mm Nighthunter XP Roof Prism Binoculars:

Looking through these binoculars at any distance is like viewing a deer or elk 30 feet away. So sharp and the focus is great. I was able to sight four deer with the naked eye. Each were just specs, but with the binoculars I could see clearly that three were does and one was a three point buck. Out of gun range, but it was great to view the subjects so precisely. At dusk the viewing was great, unlike my old binoculars, there were no shadows but everything was clear.

      Would recommend these to friends.

Comments about Steiner 8x42mm Nighthunter XP Roof Prism Binoculars:

I hesitated over these vs. the 56mm, but I think I chose right as these are amazing in the low light and smaller & much lighter than the 8x56mm. I can't believe how well they work in low lighting - I was at a local lake the other day and spotted tons of shorebirds and an otter that I never would've picked out in the fading dusk light. On the cons side, the objective lens covers don't have any way to be attached, so will be easy to lose, and the huge eye relief is a bit annoying for non-eyeglass wearers (I'm sure I sound nuts, but I have to hold them a good distance from my eyes).

Overall, though, they are excellent and will make a perfect addition to my scouting and stalking tools I use for wildlife photography.
