Hello Strider, We love the balance bike! It’s awesome that the concept driving the first bikes, over 200 years ago, have come back for the wee tots. We have two boys, nearly five and nearly three, and both learned their two-wheeled balance on a strider. It was my vision that each kid would learn balance on the strider, and pedaling mechanics on a tricycle then the two would marry at the right time. Theo (born Jan, 2010) got his Strider for Christmas before he turned two and walked on it for nearly 6 weeks until he had his first glide â€" “weeeeeâ€ he said. He tried pedals (on a 12â€ bicycle) at 3 yrs. 5 months, and while he could do it, he wasn’t comfortable with it just yet. I borrowed the strider concept and removed the crank and pedals from that 12â€ bike, so that he could have a taller balance bike and so his 2 year younger brother (Owen, born Jan, 2012) could take over the strider (about 18 months). Theo transitioned onto a pedal bike at 4 years without ever experiencing the crutch of training wheels! Owen (adept at the strider, fully six months ahead of Theo), took to the strider practically instantly!! Just two months ago, having ridden a strider for over a year, Owen was exposed to a pedal bike. At 22 months old, I put him on a 12â€ pedal bike, walked with him saying, “pedal-pedal-pedal little guy, just like the tricycleâ€ and he took off! He used his handle bar balance checks and rode a pedal bike, without training wheels at under 3 years!! He can also ride Theo’s 16â€ bike, albeit his feet are a good 6-8 inches from touching the ground, but he can RIDE it! I’ve included a video compilation (it’s 8 min but stick with it ;) of Owen’s bike-learning year. Oh, and Owen was born with a critical congenital heart defect requiring open-heart reconstructive surgery at 10 days old. He also has an underlying neurological condition affecting the stability of his eye muscles, so while he now has glasses to correct astigmatism and myopia, he mostly only uses one eye for all his antics. He pretty much goes all-in all the time, smiling! Thank you strider!! While there are other balance bikes on the market, I strongly feel that the design and engineering behind Strider is superior. It has the lowest minimum seat height yet extends high enough for an older toddler; with the narrower handlebar, smaller grips and light-weight frame geometry, it allows very small children to manipulate and maneuver the bike with little effort, more of a reflex than a process. I feel it is the best balance bike on the market. Mark Weissinger Moab, Utah http://youtu.be/NrCr_3nYkeE

Stiff handlebars

I took it to bike shop because the Handlebars would not turn after I put it together. They got it loosened up a bit but my daughter still can't turn it.

Amazing! Best thing we ever bought!

Comments about Strider No Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

My husband was searching the internet for a local repair shop for our bike trailer when he saw the Strider Bike. He called me over to watch a video of your (Ryan McFarland) son riding his Strider at age 2 and then a two-wheel pedal bike at age 3. My husband, a huge bike/riding enthusiast, couldn't buy the Strider fast enough. I honestly was a bit (a lot) skeptical, but went along with it because he was so excited. We got the Strider shortly after our son's 2nd birthday. It was winter, so he rode it on the hallways inside our house. When we let him loose outside, he was TEARING up every kind of terrain. I would honestly laugh in amazement by how he was able to whip around curves and fly down hills, all the while balancing with his feet up...at age 2! Fast forward one year to age 3. He is so coordinated, balanced, has excellent core strength... and he is RIDING A TWO-WHEEL PEDAL BIKE! AT AGE 3! I honestly believe if we lived in a place that was bike-friendly year round, it would have been even sooner. He simply adores his Strider, and the transition to a pedal bike was seamless. The very video I was skeptical about proved it's way into our home and my heart. I cannot recommend Strider enough to my relatives and people whom I know. As a speech-language pathologist (and an occupational therapist wanna-be), I recommend Strider highly to all parents to help their children develop balance, overall core strength, stability, and bilateral coordination. Accessible to all and very cool looking ("real bike!"), Strider Bikes also promote social interaction and incredible confidence. My parting words to anyone considering a Strider Bike: Even if you never, ever care if your child rides a bike, getting him/her on a Strider is the one of the BEST things you can do for his/her development! Buying a Strider was the best money we spent on anything developmental, hands down. And as a bonus, our 3 year old is cruising the town confidently on two wheels, so happy to ride like Daddy, and is LOVING it! Thank you for this great product. Baby Brother is 4 months old now, and we can't wait to get him on the Strider!

I bought this for almost 3 year old for Christmas and definitely wish that I had gotten it for him sooner! He absolutely loves it! He started riding Christmas morning and by the end of the day he was going down the small hills in our backyard without tipping over. I definitely recommend this bike and will make sure that all of my friends with small children have one before they even think about a tricycle :-)

Comments about Strider No Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

My 21 month old son received this bike two days ago for Christmas and has only put it down to eat and sleep. He got on it and was off riding with his first encounter. I was skeptical to purchase because of naysayers saying it would be a waste of time and money. They couldn't have been more wrong it was money well spent. Tre loves it and rides indoors and outdoors and that makes this mom very happy

Comments about Strider No Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

My older daughter (now almost 6) got a balance bike at age two and learned to ride right away. She was balancing herself after about a week. At first she walked the bike because she did not understand she could sit on it and move her feet to make it go. In no time she was ridding around with me while My husband and I would run. Eventually she was ready for a bike with peddles she was just fine. Never needed training wheels. I wouldn't recommend investing in a balance bike only to turn around and put your kid on a bike with training wheels anyways. After all that said, our youngest is now 18 months and we just got her strider balance bike!!! Was so excited to get it open and put her on it!! She tried it and at the first stage if figuring it out. With our experience with the first balance bike, she will be speeding around in no time on it :-)
