My husband and really love this bed. It's beautifull, stylish, and I love the arched slats that seem to hold up really well. we've been sleeping for 10 days on it, have not yet heard a single cracking sound, my husband was worried about that the most because he is Big & Tall, but we did inquire about max weight capacity, before buying. And so far we are very happy with the bed.
However the reason why I took away one star, which is might generous of me, is because the bed was missing one packs of screws and other hardwear and one middle bed slat. The set of scews was not too hard to replace at a local family owned hardwear store, that perfectly matched each piece, exept for the color, but the silver heardwear isn't visible, so doesn't make much difference. But the slat was not replacable, at least that is what Hayneedle customer service rep. told me. He was very nice, btw. And they did refund a discound back on paypal, for our inconvenience. But still, a missing slat is a pretty big miss, in my opinion. I didn't want to take away anymore stars, because this problem, really, has nothing to do with the bed itself, it is 100% human error. But I know that a lot of reviewers out there, after a problem like that, would rate product 1 star. I've seen reviews with one star because the reviewer ordered wrong product or misread product description. So I think 4 stars isn't too harsh.
Otherwise I do recommend this bed.

The good - it arrived quickly.

The ugly - the frame wobbles and the whole thing had a strong chemical smell for a couple of days.
My husband tried to MacGyver it as is but trying to make the frame more stable will likely require drilling additional holes and finding longer screws.
Still, it looks much nicer than having the mattress on the floor. As another reviewer said, it's a bit bigger than the actual CalKing mattress, but if you have proper bedding, it's hidden well enough.
Thought we got a good deal but the difficulty of putting it together and the disappointment of the final assembly erased all our happy feelings.

Like most people I was worried about buying this online without seeing it in person first. It took about an 1 hour and 1/2 to put together by myself. It looks good and all parts were included. I shopped around alot online and this is by far the best price for a bed like this. Good quality and look for the price!
