First off, I respect all experienced lensmen and experienced astronomers as they know more than I do about astronomy and lenses, I respect and regard their views to the highest regard regarding telescopes and binoculars and naturally astronomy. These are my first pair of giant binoculars. Let me tell you the price had me very skeptical about these giants. [...], Giants in the eyes of this beholder. The lenses are coated as I held both objectives and eyepieces up to a light bulb and saw a green hue. I took these Monsters with the heavy duty tripod to a nearby shore during the afternoon hours. I set the binoculars on the tripod, looked through them at a building across the river, each eyepiece was tight at first, then smooth as I adjusted each ocular. Collimation was perfect no problems. "Big deal" I said to myself "a building, what the heck did I waist my money on these giants for?" That is when the fun started, then I aimed these Monsters down the river, which with the naked eye, you really can't see anything going on, with these binoculars I saw tugboats at least 4-5 miles or more away, I could read the writing on these boats and see crew members on them. Then I took my eyes away from the binoculars looked down the river and saw nothing, thats when it hit me, these monsters, although incredibly large are a wonder to behold. Now the amazing thing that got me about these binoculars at this price, was about to happen. The sun was setting at about 7:45 pm, the giants pointed at the same direction, I see birds flying around, My naked eyes alone I could'nt even see them, with these monsters, night time falling I was seeing these seagulls colors and all 4-5 or more miles away, very graphically. I saw a turnpike miles away and saw trucks with their writing on the sides of them. These binoculars suck up light, these Zhumells are perfect at light gathering and distance. Bird watching with these Monsters is a wonder all to itself. The river sharp and perstine. I saw branches and other birds afloat on the water surface miles away from me. These giant objectives provide tack sharp viewing found in much higher end binos. The nightsky is a whole different wonder, Jupiter with it moons are sight to behold with these giants. Stars have definition to them unseen by the naked eye. The moon looks three dimensional. All this and I had sreetlights all around me as I live in a city. I saw no double images or ghosting of any kind. I admit I know very little about astronomy as i'm just getting into it, but these binos are an amazing value at this price. I bought the Zhumell 1/25 moon filters, I could see a blue hue around Jupiter, these filters add a little more to the night time viewing, and are worth getting. Whether your an expert lensmen with the finest optics (Fijinon, Miyachi, etc. or novice to lenses and astronomy, these Zhumell Tachyons are a worthy edition to anyones lens collection. Don't be put off by the price, the Tachyons are not the best in qualty optics as far as Fujinon or Miyachi, Steiner, Vixen Swarovski, etc. Let me tell you these Tachyons are quality all to themselves, believe me, from experienced to the novice you will enjoy the ride these monsters give. Binoculars.com gave me such a good deal with this Tachyon Binocular package that I bought another Tachyon Package to keep in stock, this is a great deal you should take advantage of. A 25 year Zhumell warrenty and you can't go wrong with these Monsters. The Tachyons can easily go for the list price or more and be well worth it even without the tripod. The staff at Binoculars.com are first rate even if you return an item, they are class and very knowledgeble. Take a look at the pictures I have down loaded

First of all, one needs a heavy tripod to use this montrosity. After mounting this in one, I checked the collimation; that's acceptable. The independent focusing knobs are stiff, but maybe after contant use, this should loosen up. This bino are described as FMC (fully multi coated), but I did not find the clarity impressive at all...just so, so. But the one thing I noticed is that Chromatic aberration is pronounced in both barrels. This is supposed to be an astronomical binocular, and with, it won't be useful in spotting objects in the sky. And when I tried it at night, it was just as I had expected. We need clarity binos in spotting planets and the like. For the price, I could add more $$ and get a real astronomical (possibly a Schmidt-Cassegrain or Maksutov) and that's what I've decided to do. But if your objective is to view distant landscape objects, this will do, and a good price at that.

Comments about Zhumell Tachyon 25x100mm Astronomy Binoculars with Locking Aluminum Case:
I bought the binoculars for watching the comets that are going to be visible this year. I was a little suprised at the size even though I knew they were big and heavy. First view was of Jupiter and Jupiters 4 moons, it was amazing. I haven't found the time to view anything else since I am in the woods. Saturn is behind the trees right now. I will make a trip to a better viewing area soon. Very nice binoculars for the price, focusing can be hard on a weak tripod. I am very happy with my purchase.
