Incompatiable with Protein Skimmer

By DCG76

from San Diego, CA, USA

Comments about Tetra Second Nature TetraAqua AquaSafe - 8.4 oz.:

Nowhere on the package or on this website does it indicate this product will cause protein skimmers to over-foam. I've confirmed with the manufacturer of my skimmer that: "A “slime producing additive e.g. Aqua Plus, AquaSafe, Stress Coat….." "These additives contain thick gel like agents that are not compatible with the vigorous air/water mixing that occurs in a venturi-style skimmer." It takes upwards of three weeks for the AquaSafe Plus to degrade and the protein skimmer to function as designed. This has resulted in additional aquarium operating costs in the way of additional RO and salt to perform the frequent necessary water changes to compensate for the lost nutrient export capacity. Water changes do not correct the problem because the product coats the inside surfaces of the tank.

Prefer older "Aqua Safe" product

By TetraFan

from Houston, TX

Comments about Tetra Second Nature TetraAqua AquaSafe - 8.4 oz.:

This product is more concentrated than the old product (new product uses 1 tsp to treat 10 gal, old product uses 1 tsp to treat 5 gal). I avoided the other water conditioner products because they were too concentrated. I use 5 gallon jugs for my water exchanges, and adding only 1/2 tsp has a greater risk of adding too much or too little.

Comments about Tetra Second Nature TetraAqua AquaSafe - 8.4 oz.:

I used AquaPlus for a water change and now my fish are gasping at the surface. Concerned, I tested the water and got high readings of ammonia. I tested a new batch of water treated with AquaPlus and lo and behold, same level ammonia. I now either have a false positive and mysteriously afflicted fish or I've been poisoning my fish all along. Thanks, Tetra.

Face problem to control PH

By Joao

from Gastonia - NC

Comments about Tetra Second Nature TetraAqua AquaSafe - 8.4 oz.:

I always used AquaSafe to adjust the TAP water when changing the water at the aquarium and never had problem with the PH. With this new version "PLUS" with algae and other things the PH goes all the way to accid 6.0. The TAP Water is reding 7.2 and when I add the proper dosage to make it "SAFE" the PH goes to 6.0. Could someone explain what is happening? And I also lot my Molly's. A realyse what was happening too late to fix the problem. As I already mention I do not had any problem with the "OLD" product. This new "PLUS" is giving me a lot off nightmares ..... please FIX IT!
