Description
The futon comes out of the dorm room and into a contemporary living space with the The Napa Convertible Sofa - Java. A microfiber suede body sits on four small black legs. The removable cover means easy cleaning. The sofa's java coloring will blend wonderfully with your existing decor. Two matching pillows are included.
While it's stylish and versatile to be sure, the Napa Convertible sofa is also easy to assemble, and can be put together using everyday household tools. It also has a large storage area underneath the seat cushion.
The click-clack mechanism snaps into place, ensuring a tight lock into whatever position you place the sofa. The cushion, made of high elasticity foam and a layer of poly fiber, is made for total comfort and long-lasting use.

We have just assembled the sofa so haven't had anyone sleep on it yet. Comments so far:
Delivery - took about a week more than promised. Some of the hardware items listed (4 short bolts) were not in the attached hardware bag. We later found them already in the holes where they were to be installed.
Assembly - we did not find it easy, and we did not find the instructions clear. It took us about 2 hours; would have been less but we at first had the mattress the wrong way around; the diagram for this part of the assembly is wrong. We had to disassemble and start over. Be aware that when they say to 'align' the bolts for the arms to the holes in the mattress, it means you have to lift the entire unit (base plus mattress) about four inches. So I recommend that at the very start of the assembly you put the base onto some sort of raised platform - two-by-fours or even four piles of books, one under each corner. You can see from the picture that there is a 4-inch gap under the base unit.
Quality and Appearance: Good suede-like fabric, great neutral color (olive). One small fault in the stitching on the back, not enough to make us think of returning the product. Mattress feels very firm. When it's a bed, the sofa arms become the headboard and footboard, and they are off-center, which does look a little odd. Also, with a regular sofabed, the back of the sofa becomes the head of the bed; with this one, the sides of the sofa become the head and foot, so you do need to think about whether this will work in your particular room.
Other Reviews: I am puzzled at the one that says there is no storage, since the base unit is hollow and accessible by lifting the seat. Probably enough room for a couple of pillows, plus sheets and a blanket. But the real puzzler is the one from the woman who implies that she assembled the sofa by herself. There is no way one person could do it alone. The mattress is big and heavy and you have to lift it onto the base unit.

I was so excited to get this and the first time it was delivered with 1 out of 2 boxes so only half the sofa. The lining was ripped on piece we got. Hayneedle quickly arranged for replacement. It arrived with 2 boxed but was poorly packed and the fabric was ripped in middle of couch. Hayneedle refunded my money but it was such a disappointment. The couch looked nice other than rip but was very firm. If Hayneedle didn't make it so easy to get my money back I would have given this 1 star.

Comments about Napa Convertible Sofa:
I ordered this sofa and only the mattress arrived. I tried again and the same thing happened. So disappointed as this sofa would have worked very well in my guest bedroom. Won't be ordering again!

Comments about Napa Convertible Sofa:
Only received half of the futon, base and arms never came. The actual bed part that was delivered was very poorly made, the stitching was already coming out! I told hayneedle I didn't want it and they told ME to dispose of it...I will NEVER buy from Hayneedle again, this is the 3rd thing I have ordered from them and they have all been nightmares!!!
