Description
A "Highest Quality" pick.
Display true Shaker tradition on your covered porch and bring back memories of the good old days with the Troutman Piedmont Rocking Chair. Crafted from a beautiful oak hardwood, the Piedmont is a strong and rugged chair capable of lasting for generations. Built and designed to be handed down as an heirloom, the Piedmont features swelled joint construction that needs no glue. This Plantation-style rocker features dual rounded finials on the back posts, and 12 form fitting scooped slats.
Excellent craftsmanship makes this one of our favorite rocking chairs. The arched back, the properly sized rungs, and the arced runners all contribute to this chair having tremendous comfort and perfect pitch. Pitch is best described as the angle of the seat to the floor when the chair is empty. The design of this chair has remained unchanged since its creation in 1924. Ships partially assembled.
Troutman Chair Co., established in 1924, uses sturdy oak stock from local loggers as they clear land for developing subdivisions, and does not cut trees just to make furniture. The logs are brought to the on-site mills to ensure quality control, and a link to their time-honored way of doing things.

Assembly
Invert rocking chair on a solid surface with padding between surface and the rocking chair. Fit the rocking chair runners onto the tenons at the bottom of the rocker legs. The front of the rocker runner has the tenon hole closest to the end of the rocker runner. Using little force, tap the rocker runner front FIRST and then the back. Repeat front to back until you have a good fit. When the tenon is halfway into the holes in the rocker runner you can use force to get the runners all the way on. Hammer the rocker runners until the tenons are fitted down into the rocking chair runner. Since the runners are made of oak force will not hurt them. After the runners are fitted properly into all of the rocking chair legs use the stainless steel nails provided to attach the runners to the tenons. Turn the rocking chair on its side and hammer the nails from the inside of the rocker runners into the tenon. Pre-drilling the holes may ease runner attachment. PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN NAILING ONTO PAINTED SURFACES. USE OF SAFETY GLASSES IS RECOMMENDED. PLEASE CALL IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE.

I put off buying rocking chairs for 15 years because I wanted one that reminded me of my childhood in Cape May and I finally found it in the Troutman Piedmont Rocking Chair. Very easy to assemble and within minutes I was dozing off to the gentle rock of the chair.

When I walk in the door, it's the first place I go. So comfortable and soothing. The high back and wide seat provide support and total relaxation at the same time. I'm a big guy so the solid construction gives me total peace of mind. Great product!
