Bought this bed online because everything locally I found I was not impressed with the quality or the price. I wanted a durable, simple, low to the ground solution for my bedroom, that matched my dark wooden floors.This bed is from a high quality manufacturer (one thing I liked about SimplyPlatformBeds was their willingness to list the manufacturer, so you can check their website / product manuals etc as opposed to other sites just listing a bed style. I would suggest going to the vendors website to check colors before choosing one here. I chose 'Dark Chocolate' because of the aforementioned wooden floors.The rubberwood is eco-friendly, and very durable as far as it's stiffness and the way it holds up. This bed does not creek at all and does not move under normal use, it is solid. The directions / assembly were a snap! It took approx 1 hour 15 minutes to put together from the opening of the first box to the finished product. Mostly myself but I did have some help from my girlfriend (holding the side rails while we attached them to the headboard & footboard). Didn't require tools (allen wrench comes with) although I would suggest a rubber mallet to tap in the screw covers etc. We opted to avoid the additionally supplied screws for the other slats. Few things; There are two sets of (5) slats with this bed; plenty of support. I wondered about this prior to purchase but ended up calling a vendor in Seattle who let me in on the #, and that's what it came with. The headboard height is approx 34", the rest of the bed is approx 13.5" (there is a 1/2" difference in where the mattress sits and the frame is, so your mattress is at 13" off the ground).Another reason I chose this bed is because the footboard legs don't stick out too much, I was concerned when another bed I really liked (also on this site) had protruding legs which might be easily banged if you've any clumsy ones in the room. :)There are four boxes, thankfully packaged very well [...]. The bed itself & all pieces were perfect upon arrival. [...] the bed weighs about 97 pounds.This was my first purchase from Hayneedle or SimplyPlatformbeds but I was very happy with the purchase overall, would most definitely recommend to a friend looking for a bed.

I purchased the queen-sized bed with drawers in Dark Chocolate. I'll start with the good: Delivery was on time, as scheduled and nothing was damaged. The bed was easy to assemble. I did it by myself (and I am a woman) and it took almost 1.5 hours, not including the drawers, which were also easy and fast to assemble. I did use a drill to fasten the phillips head screws. It would have been hard with a screwdriver.
The bad: (1) You don't have the option to only purchase 2 drawers. If you have nightstands, you will not be able to access 2 of the drawers, so they become pretty much useless. I put them under a different bed so they can at least be used. (2) The color, Dark Chocolate, should be called Almost Black. It is darker than shown, and black does not match my other furniture. (3) The height of the bed. I have a 12" mattress (no box spring), and this bed ends up being about 3" shorter than my previous set-up (mattress, box spring, typical metal frame), and yes, I assembled it correctly for a mattress only. Also, you only see about 8 inches of the headboard above the mattress. In the photos, it appears as though the headboard extends at least a foot above the mattress (it appears as though you can even see the bottom horizontal piece of the headboard in the photos, but this is not the case.) When my pillows are lying flat, you see a couple inches of the headboard above that. Very awkward looking. I would return the bed except it would be a pain in the butt, so I'm stuck with it.

This bed is a good quality product. I was hesitant to buy a bed online, without really being able to inspect it beforehand, but this product exceeded my expectations. It arrived undamaged and was not difficult to assemble. Even fastening all of the slats was made easy with the pre-drilled holes. The directions for assembly were very good--the pictures helped a lot. This bed looked good in the online pictures and even better in my bedroom. Very pleased.

Quality and look of headboard, side rails and foot board is impressive. nails/staples sticking through on inside of foot board...poor manufacture. Slat Boards are very cheap pressboard and should be redesigned. Center support for slat boards over engineered, and also of poor quality. side rails provide only 8 inches of clearance from the floor.
