I read that the headboard is a bit flimsy, and it made me weary to purchase this bed. After recieving the bed and building it I can say that the headboard is definately a bit flimsy. However I'm sure that it will never break unless you just happened to kick it or hit it hard.
The bed is beautiful and works great. It took 20 minutes from start to finish to put together. I'd definately recommend this bed to any close friend.

The bed is made of an unknown hardwood plywood covered with maple veneers. This actually makes for a very strong construction. It was really fast and easy to put together. The headboard is paper thin, and I expect will crack or suffer catastrophic failure with any pressure or impact. While the rest of the bed is sturdily built fot the price (cheap), do not expect much as far as aesthetics are concerned. While the picture shows a beautiful graceful design, what the picture does not show are small clunky external braces on the sides and weird and super-thick headboard extension legs (that do not match the footboard legs).
Overall, buy this if you're on a budget or are looking for a bed for that guest room. Spend more money on a bed that has a more solid headboard and more attention to the details of construction if you're looking for a primary bed.

The bed that is pictured in the product description is not exactly the bed that I received. The headboard I got is over six inches taller than the dimensions that were given (51.5" actual H vs 44.5"). The look of the bed is VERY different as a result.

Make sure you separate the two lengths of screws when assembling the bed. They don't look very different so pay attention to which one you are using. With this said, it is not difficult to build.
