Description
With seemingly endless sizes, finishes, and storage options available, the Windsor Platform Bed is so customizable you'll feel like you designed it yourself. This platform bed is constructed of solid hardwood with an arch and spindle design. It includes mortise and tenon joinery with steel reinforcements and a 14-piece solid hardwood slat kit. No box spring is required. However, thanks to a frame that adjusts in height, this platform bed can be used with a mattress alone or a box spring with mattress - whichever you wish.
If you need extra storage space for blankets, clothing or linens, you can also choose two or four under-bed storage drawers for an easy way to store it all in style. Choose from flat panel or raised panel styles to suit your preference. The twin size is available with two drawers. The full, queen, and king sizes are available with two or four drawers.

About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.
The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.
Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

I have been looking for a platform bed for a long time. It had to be high enough for the dog to crawl under, but not too high for her to jump up on when we go to bed! I wanted a simple style but not too modern. This bed has met all my needs. The spindle headboard gives it a country feel, yet the platform gives the bed a clean, simple look and allows the various quilts, duvets to shine. Also, it is easier to vacuum under this bed. It was easy to put together and is of solid construction. I recently purchased a new mattress and with the slat support, no need for a box spring.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The drawers had cracks in them despite the wonderful secure looking packing, but Hayneedle was quick about replacing them. I didn't like seeing the drawer part under the bed that wasn't stained, but a bed ruffle just at the foot of the bed covered the slats + drawers perfectly. Very pleased w/ the solid wood, nicely stained, and plenty of slats to support the mattress w/o box springs. Terry J. in Florida

I love this bed and am SO happy with my decision to purchase it. It's gorgeous, well constructed, and very stylish! It was easy to assemble by myself and the delivery was brilliant. I'm so impressed with this bed that I'm ordering another one for my guest bedroom.
The only question I had when making the purchase was the height from the floor to the bottom of the platform for the mattress. I was concerned the bed would be too low if I was just using a mattress and not box springs. The height is perfect for my 5'4" frame. The final height with my mattress is about 24". (I meant to measure the height from the floor to the platform in case anyone else had the same question. If I have time, I will do that and update my review.)
