Description
Although Windsor design is usually found in kitchen chairs, the Windsor V King Platform Bed has all the effortless charm of its namesake style. Made of an eco-friendly hardwood, this platform bed features a rounded, slatted, concave arch headboard and a flat-panel footboard. It comes in a variety of rich finishes and is king-sized for the "royal" treatment.
If your bedroom's big on style but small on space, the optional under-bed drawers let you store linens, clothing, extra blankets, and more. The twin is available with two drawers, and the other sizes have the option of ordering two or four drawers. Plus, the Windsor V is easy to assemble. A hook-and-rail system provides lasting connection between the platform bed's joints while making disassembly a breeze. The pins also join the bed to its headboard and footboard. All this, and you won't even need a box spring! However, thanks to a frame that adjusts in height, this platform bed can be used with a mattress alone or a box spring with mattress - whichever you wish.

About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.
The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.
Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

I bought this bed to put in my 6 year old son's room and to use as a secondary guest room as needed. I only ordered the bed, and did not order any under drawers. The 4 boxes that showed up weren't too heavy, and the packaging was protective but not totally out of control. I was able to assemble the entire bed by myself in about an hour and only needed my husband's help to get the queen mattress in place. The bed is sturdy yet doesn't take up too much room as my son's room is fairly small. I am also pleased with how the mattress sits on the frame without a box spring. We bought this bed for my son who has very small bedroom, so we bought the drawers that go underneath for extra storage. If you use this bed with the drawers DO NOT use a box spring, you only need a mattress. Unfortunately we bought a mattress and box spring for the bed but when using both it is too high and looks ridiculous next to the matching night-stands. The drawers are nice and will hold a lot of stuff. They roll well on a solid surface but not so well on shag carpet. We are going to try a piece a plywood on top of the carpet. Hopefully they will be easier to roll out from under the bed. One of the pieces of one of the drawers arrived broken but they sent me another box. Problem solved. Overall I like the bed and the matching night-stands.

We were looking for a white twin bed for our 2 year old daughter's room. We wanted one with a low footboard because her room is small so we didn't want the bed to overpower the room. We searched other online stores as well as nearby stores and couldn't find what we were looking for. The one we found on this site was exactly what we wanted. It is adorable for a kids bedroom and was easy to assemble. We highly recommend.
