Let me start out by saying that I would give this bench a much lower rating had it cost more. However, for the price, I suppose, the bench is quite adequate.There are a few things to keep in mind:If you have any trouble assembling [...] furniture, this bench is not for you. Although most holes are pre-drilled, not all are. As a result, it can be difficult to align individual pieces correctly. A relatively small mistake on one side of the bench will quickly turn into a bigger problem elsewhere.The bench is made in China, as are the assembly instructions. Not that this matters much since instructions are mainly based on illustrations and not on the fantastic "English" one is subjected to.Overall, it would have been helpful if instructions had been more detailed. As it is, I would strongly advise you to place most pieces in their proper location, make the necessary adjustments, and then slowly assemble the bench.You should have an electric screwdriver since there are MANY screws involved.It might also help to have a drill to facilitate alignment and securing pieces in place.During the manufacturing process, it is clear that some pieces suffered from splintering and other defects. Rather than replace those parts with flawless ones, the manufacturer "fixes" them by applying wood filler.Fortunately, these "fixes" on my bench are mostly small - but there are several of them and quite a few are in visible areas (i.e., seating or back rest areas). Had I paid more, I would have found this absolutely unacceptable - admittedly, I am not sure that I would have to accept this kind of defect even for the rather low price, but that's where I am right now.The bench does come pre-stained and is ready to assemble. Once it's put together, it looks nice, is comfortable, and you can use it right away.Even with the small defects and problems, I would still recommend this bench - meaning that none of the described issues are really significant, at least to me. Rather, they are something you should be aware of to avoid disappointment or dissatisfaction.

It's not the normal thing to give a woman, but we are building a garden and play area for the kids. I wanted her to have a relaxing spot in the yard under our tree that she can enjoy. This bench was the right chose.

Just finished assembling the bench this week and I am very satisfied. It was a good price (couldn't build it myself for the same price) There are certain technics and hardware upgrades that make it a great bench. It has a minimal coat of varnish. I coated everything with a good marine varnish before I assembled it and now it should last for years. The provided screws a little small and can easily strip out. I used square head self taping 6 x 1.25 screws. Much better than predrilling. (96 screws just for the slats) Assemble the bench on a flat surface like a garage floor or patio. Everything will be true and even. It is much easier to assemble the fascia boards and legs upside down rather than trying to hold them in place while upright and screwing at the same time. Flip back over when done. Make sure that the cleats on the inside of the backs are flush to the ends. If not, reposition, otherwise they will not line up with the inside of the legs. Remember to maintain the slight cant. It will make it easier when using a power screw driver with extended tip. Assemble the backs together and mount on the legs. The legs may need to be slightly twisted to properly align with the back mounting cleats. Use blue tape or a strap clamp if available to hold and mount the various sets of slats, making sure to center on each leg. You will definitely need to use tape to hold the outside slat since it tends to fall off the leg. Once the bench is assembled, mark all the parts of one section (use blue tape) and disassemble along with the opposite side. The sections are fairly light and can be easily moved to the tree location. Reassemble the opposite sides and your bench is done. A touch of varnish on the screw heads will also protect them for a long time. This was a fun project and the bench is very attractive and the few extra steps with make it sturdier and last a long time.

Looks good for about a month, but weathers quickly. Almost all the varnish has peeled off within a month, some of the boards are cracking and the nails have rusted and stained the wood. The bench was built by my brother with little problem (he's a master cabinet maker). I thought I was getting a pretty good deal but it turned into wasted money.

Ho it got here right on time earlier in the week I havent seen any thing like this in years I put it up in a few afternoon hours before work It is a little work but if i can do it any one can my yard isnt so level so I have some of that to do ive showen pics at work they just love as do the neighbors its a warm feeling from the past Ive had a hard time getting grass to grow in that spot just the right answer happy summer Nana in sacramento ca
