What a great bed for our 2 young boys! This bed is sturdy and made with excellent wood. It is very comparable in price and quality to some bunk beds we saw in high end furniture stores. The only problem we had was with the assembly instructions. They were not specific enough and assembly took awhile longer than stated on the website. This is a bed that is highly worth the money. We suggest it for anyone looking for a bunk bed.

We bought this for our 2 year old with the intention of it being her bed and then her sister's as well once the little one is big enough too. It is actually a pretty solid bed overall, BUT:
-The top bunk is accessed by stairs, but the child will have to climb over a railing that is higher than the mattress. We're considering cutting that part down to be flush with the frame.
-The finish is often quite rough and was obviously not well sanded, something we'll likely do.
-There are pieces that are splintery, which makes me nervous, since the 2 year old will likely climb all over it. We'll also have to sand this to prevent slivers.
-There are several of the pre-assembled parts that are either crooked or were obviously damaged but still stained and clear coated. Example: on the stairs there is a 2x4 that was splintered, probably from the hole drilling, that was left and then had finish put on it. They really couldn't switch it out?
-The drawers are AWFUL! Their track is a single track in the middle that allows the drawer to wobble in and out, rather than glide, and the drawers in the base unit seem too small for the hole that was cut, so they really wobble (plus one of our drawer fronts is warped and doesn't close flat). I'd forgo the extra cost of these and just get some good underbed storage bins. I was planning to use these drawers and those in the stairs for clothing, but I think opening them all of the time would just make me mad. I'll probably use them for blanket storage until we get around to putting decent drawer glides on them.

On the bright side it was really easy to assemble. It took two of us, simply because it was easier to install the braces for the mattresses. Also the full size bed could easily be reconverted back to a twin later if you decide it's too big. It's just an expansion that connects to the standard twin. Once it is put together it doesn't shake and seems really solid (aside from the drawers).

It's an alright bed. We were disappointed, considering the price, but it will do and I doubt our toddler will care much about it's inadequacies. She just likes the stairs.

Comments about Woodcrest Woody Creek Front Load Twin over Full Bunk Bed with Stairs:

We love this bed. We have moved (and therefore disassembled and reassembled the bed) more times than I care to count since purchasing this almost 5 years ago, and man has this bed taken a beating! The construction is SOLID, and when I put a 5-year-old boy on it for the first time, I felt confident in his safety. Now almost 10, my son still loves this bed, and his friends love coming over to spend then night, since they get the option of the fun top bunk, or the larger lower. The stairs are a major win as far as this mama is concerned. No ladders to worry about here. Plus, the added storage (steps as well as under the bottom bunk) have come in VERY handy in some of the smaller rooms we've had in some of our homes. All in all, this bed is built well, easy to maintain, looks great, and is durable! What more could you ask? My only complaint (and I mean, what do you expect?) is that the initial construction took a bit of time. But as I've said, we've moved a few times and it's been easy to disassemble and reassemble after that initial build. This bunk bed is HIGHLY RECOMMEDED!!

Comments about Woodcrest Woody Creek Front Load Twin over Full Bunk Bed with Stairs:

Poorly finished. The Wood Crest did very bad job to put together the stepstairs. They use the bad weak nails and it could not keep the shape of the stepstair. We had to spend 3 full days to take it in the parts and fixed it. The underdraw had the same problem. The bunkbed frame does not look good because the ugly wood they use for.....Wood Crest does not put a good quality on this product. But Hayneedle was good to help the customer to solve the problem. 5 stars for customer service. We would not want to buy this item if we know it was that bad.

We purchased this bed for our son's birthday 3 years ago. Took some time to construct, but it is BY FAR the best quality, safest bunk bed on the market. 3 years of use and it's still in perfect condition and my (now 8-year-old) son still loves it! We do too. The steps are a much safer option to those very dangerous ladders. Great bed, very well made, highly recommended!

Comments about Woodcrest Woody Creek Front Load Twin over Full Bunk Bed with Stairs:

It is what it says, a set of bunk beds. All pieces are in separate boxes, packed well but make no mistake they are heavy. I set up whole system in place in about 2 hours give or take a few minutes...carrying large step assembly was tricky. it weighs approx.. 190 lbs. and is cumbersome...also be careful if you use a hand truck which I had to use because I brought this up a double set of steps(and by myself..which I don't recommend either)..which I don't recommend you doing unless you have measured all clearances. i.e., step to ceiling heights...and widths. when I tried to pull back on top two wood bars one pulled out, they use straight nails with a nail gun to connect a lot of parts to others..probably a) to same money, b)quicker and more efficient than a regular hammer and nails with a head and finally for the look of it being seamless ...no nail head showing. Drawback is, a lot less weaker joints. so be careful. last thing is check all parts BEFORE Truck driver leaves...and check for damaged BOXES. Parts come on a skid..usually loaded by a forklift...again DAMAGED BOX means damaged parts. my step assembly box had a huge puncture in it ..shame on me I didn't see it... the only piece that was damaged was the back part of the steps which is that undesireable wood veneer covered particle board. I didn't report it cause in my kids bed room that part is butt up against wall and no one will probably ever see it.OH YEAH 1 more thing when screwing in bed slats to frame ....line them up carefully first the pre-drilled wholes in the slats themselves are not centered and I found I had to make my own wholes or they would have never secured correctly to the bed railings. last but not least, it looks great my two boys TJ and Sal Ages 6 and 3 love the beds. I got the twin over full, with the drawer feature on bottom of full...drawers are SMALL...LOL... sorry Woody Creek to bash you a little, but overall I would recommend this product with certain cautions...then again these days what can you really get made the way you would've if you had the time to do it yourself....

i think the quality is very bad, I am very disappointed. The color isn't like the picture (or I received a wrong bed), the deliver left 7 boxes in front of my door and I have to build it myself. There should be an option to hire to be installed.

people if probably would have been. The mattresses were about 1 1/2" thick
and After a couple hundred bucks for mattress pads it was fine.Grand daughter loves it and I guess thats all that matters.Would I recommend or buy

I did not receive all the pieces to put the bunk beds together. We did not get the mattress support on neither the top or the bottom. we didn't get the extension to make the bottom bunk a full bed and we didn't get the rails, but it's ok because we don't have anything to put the mattresses on anyway.

Comments about Woodcrest Woody Creek Front Load Twin over Full Bunk Bed with Stairs:

Perhaps I am knocking this product too much. For the price, I would have expected finer touches and overall better construction. However, the bed is all solid wood. Assembled, it is sturdy where it counts the most (holding up the mattress) and looks as it should. The biggest complaints are that staples are used in much of the construction, perhaps in some places where I would have preferred nails or screws for durability reasons.

In addition, some of the nails on the staircase unit's boards missed their mark on the studs and I had to go in and cut ends off with a dremel tool. This was not a sturdiness issue, but shows the lack of attention to detail I wrote about previously. No dovetails on the drawers, some spots needed better sanding/smoothing, damaged guard rail where a slat separated from its post (easily repaired at home, how about a screw instead of a staple?) and absolutely zero extra screws or washers (don't loose any!) in the kit are just some other examples of poor attention to detail. Finally, the instructions were pathetic. Don't count on them, fortunately there is not much you will need to assemble as the staircase unit (the center piece of the bed) already comes assembled and it's heavy (good)!

Bottom line, would I buy this bed again: YES.
Would recommend it to a friend: Probably.
Main con: For the money, perhaps better attention to detail needed.
Main Pro: Sturdy, all solid wood, looks great, my kids love it.

We just ordered this bed for our 8 year old and 4 year old. The setup took about 6 hours to put it together. The instructions were very basic and could have been more detailed, but we were able to put it together without any problems. The stair unit came already assembled. I like the stair unit with additional storage and the under the bed storage to help make even better use of the space. I was concerned about putting my kids in bunkbeds since a lot of ones I looked at did not look sturdy but we were low on space in our house. This bed looks very nice and is very sturdy! I am glad I ordered it.
