I like this telescope, but the instruction manual as it came packaged with it was terrible in that it was a very poor photocopy of the manual. I recommend you download the manual from http://www.zhumell.com/manuals/Eclipse_user_guide.pdf and then you can copy the pictures with much better results to see how it goes together. Thsi is right from the manufacturers site. It was almost impossible to figure out how to mount the motor without the photo of the manual

I purchased this scope along with the Zhumell eyepiece kit as a supplement to an 8" dobsonian I own.

Pros:
It's definitely not made for deep space observation, but the planetary views this smaller aperture scope can serve up are spectacular. Jupiter is in a great position at this time and I can see plenty of detail with this scope and some decent eyepieces.

Cons:
First off, the included manual is outright _horrible_. Confusing assembly instructions and no collimation information at all would make this a nightmare to a beginner. The lack of collimation instructions is a real shame as mine came with very poor alignment (10 minutes with a laser collimator fixed it). The procedures for aligning the equatorial mount are not very helpful at all - I would recommend that a beginner google for tips on this.

Second, the optics are pretty poor. The included finder scope is more useless than just sighting down the barrel - I recommend just tossing it. Also, the eyepieces have very, very short eye relief (eyeglass wearers will be unhappy).

Love this telescope! Great for a beginner like myself. Finally, after a week of waiting, it's clear outside and got to see incredible views of the moon. Was also able to see Saturns ring tonight and it completely blew me away!

I was told that celestrons were better made but think this scope is equally comparable to the celestron.
Still figuring out how to work it

Comments about Zhumell Eclipse 114 with Motor Drive Reflector Telescope:

This is a nice scope. very well built and sturdy. The Tripod cold be better. It's lightweight, and could be a little strong. Although, this set - up is supposed to be for portability, but no case. Set - uo took about 30 minutes. Not hard at all. I really have not use it. It's be cloudy here. Although, I did sight it in during the day and found it to be pretty powerful. I zeroed in on a swamp cooler a block away and was able to read the label without any trouble. Easy to focus, and the finder scope is fine. Thus, I'm sure viewing the sky is going to be a piece of cake. The motor works, although the batteries that come with it are old. Mine were pretty much drained. I though the motor was junk as a few others posted, but I switched out the batteries with some fresh ones, and the motor works fine. Just be sure to disengage when not in use, as the instructions say, or you'll break it. All in, for a first time scope user, I think this one will work out just fine for me. I'm glad I bout it. Get the Zhumell eyepiece set, it'll surprise you. I bought it, and glad I did.

        Customer Q & A

        2 Questions About This Product
Q: "What is the motor drive for? Will the image I see be right side up, or upside down?"
A: The motor drive is used on telescopes that do not have a GoTo system. You turn on the drive when you find an object you want to view and adjust the speed actuator so that the telescope will move with the object. The drive helps eliminate some of the manual functions you have to perform on your telescope. The images you view in the sky will be upside down and inverted.
Q: "Does this come with a case?"
A: The Zhumell Eclipse 114 with Motor Drive Reflector Telescope does not come with a case.
