I bought a monocular because I'm blind in one eye. Having said that, I would recommend this model because it is so convenient to use. It's lightweight and easily attaches to your belt. It's relatively small size also allows it to be placed in a jacket pocket and/or a glovebox in your car. The 18mm eye relief works well for people wearing glasses. Without glasses the field of view seems huge. This monocular is perfect for me and others wanting something lightweight and convenient. It's perfect for hiking, backpacking and hunting.The only con would be the strap which I will replace. It's too thin and non adjustable.I am very happy with this product[...]

I wanted these to replace a 7x40 pair of binoculars for watching birds at my feeders. No complaint about the product, but for me, it's just so much easier to pick up the bino's. They also let in a lot more light than the scope, which is understandable. Could never get used to squinting, one eye shut, tried it with both eyes open, hehe, ...just too much work. The device was damaged when I opened the box. It rattled and you could see broken glass through the eyepiece. This was apparently because of poor packaging or perhaps the product itself is not designed to take much of a shock. Either way it did not leave a great positive first impression for Hayneedle as I must now wait on the whole "returned goods" process to play out before I receive what I purchased. I returned it via UPS ground with the shipping lable Hayneedle provided, but who knows how long the return process will take and how long it will take to get the device I ordered. I would think Hayneedle would ship a replacement as soon as they were notified it was received damaged.
