Great buy for the money. [...]Much lighter than I expected.They are a good buy but, at the higher magnification you will need a tripod for sure. It's impossible to hold it steady. On that note if you take a look at the picture of the 70MM vs the 80mm and bigger you will see the mount located in the middle of the bigger models. The mount on the 70MM is off balance. I have a $50 mediocre tripod and find that the front heavy 70MM is a problem ...It's hard to keep it where you want it. I have to really tighten down the tripod controls to get it where I want it. [...] plan on spending the extra money to get a bigger model (mainly for the mount). Mistake #2 is I plan on getting a heavier tripod. The cheaper tripods are fine at low power... They're just too wobly at higher magnification.Zoom... I found the zoom to be a pleasure.I've owned a 12" Meade LX200 GPS ( which is a $4000 telescope), and find that for terrestrial, and some light astronomy viewing... a good pair of binoculars is almost as good. Much easier on your eyes using two eyes.Clear skies,Brian

the fov is clear and sharp for up to 2/3 .The best viewing is between 12and 40x.The Moon is fantastic at this power with just a littlebit of blue arrond.A great value for the price

Very nice feeling, looking and handling. Seem to be very well made. Extremely clear viewing when in focus. Was able to focus fairly easily at 12X70. For the size they are very light weight and easy to use. However, when zooming to any other power the binoculars go out of focus. Have to refocus at any zoom which also means you have to adjust the center of view. I would recommend non zoom binoculars as opposed to these.

The binoculars are fantastic for the price, I do not think you will get a better deal. Easy to use and good overall image but consider buying a tripod. I got them as a gift for my son and he loves them.
