This is an example of a product that is is much nicer-looking than functional. It is described as being made of both "solid wood" and "composites". The only part that is nicely made is the top, which is solid hardwood. The "frame" is also wood, but when you examine the piece, this is limited to thin vertical supporting strips at the corners of the sides and shelves. Worst of all, except for a thin exterior rim of wood, the shelf material (the part that is supposed to support a a 39" row of books!) is made of ultra-thin plywood or laminate, that is literally less than 1/8" thick. You can flex it like a drum head. Completely unsuitable for a shelf of real books. Within hours of loading the shelves, they had already developed a noticeable sag/dip. This piece cannot last long as a bookshelf. I cannot understand why it doesn't include sturdier shelves. It's also somewhat difficult and tedious to put together. The connecting screws are positioned to be hidden, but the allen wrench tool has such limited accessiblity it can only be tightened ~1/4 turn at a time.

Needed a narrow storage unit for the end of the bed. This bookcase with baskets fit perfectly and looks great. It was easy to assemble and didn't take much time. I am very pleased with the product, especially the value for the price.
