This bed is great! My son is 2 1/2 and was still in his crib until now. He slept in it from the first night. It is very sturdy and the rails keep him safe. He loves sliding out of bed in the morning and playing in his tent. I love that I can keep toys in the tent and out of the way. Assembling the bed was not as great. The hardware was labeled very well, but not the actual wood pieces. There are no words on the instructions...only pictures. So on one picture you may not know which step to do first. The worst part was putting the actual tent flaps on the bed. You are given tiny nails and little snaps to nail in but it was impossible for us to do so. We ended up just nailing the tent to the bed itself. It took us about 2 1/2 hrs to assemble it all. Overall, we love the bed and it was worth the hassle.

My son's grandparents bought this for his seventh birthday, none of us noticing the height. It is VERY short for a seven year old. Its the perfect height for our three year old. All assembled, the mattress is about 3 feet off the floor. A growth spurt and my son won't be able to sit under the loft. Also, took us two hours to assemble just the outside frame, not two hours for the entire project like the directions say. Last, the tent is a very bright orange-red, not a deeper fire engine red as I see in the photos. We are buying risers to increase the height of the bed.

Comments about Alexander Tent Twin Loft Bed with Slide:
So I don't normally write reviews, but I found that as I was looking for a bed, the reviews were most helpful in my decision making.
I chose this bed for my daughter because of the color. I needed something to match her current dresser. This color match is perfect. I also chose this bed because of the size and price. My daughter's room is small, so having the slide an option was a plus. In addition, you can move the ladder on either side. My husband was able to assemble the bed easily (about 2 hours) and he is maticulious. The bed is a stable enough for her 50 lbs. with mattress, but I haven't allowed mutliple kids on top. I may get plywood put down as reinforcement. I did the same on my son's loft bed, which is NOT the same model. (My son's is one with drawer under it and was a monster to put together, although a good bed.) This bed is made of pine, so it dent's easily, but lighter weight than particle board!
I ended up finding a tent from another store that sell them separately. So may daughter has what looks like a pink house with a door and windows under the bed and she absolutely loves it. She has a little book nook under there. Hayneedle delievery was great. I did standard delivery and they called me ahead of time to schedule an appointment. The gave me a 4 hour window and then put the boxes right in my garage (as I requested). I'm very happy with this purchase and happy that my daughter is happy too!

Comments about Alexander Tent Twin Loft Bed with Slide:
Recently purchased this bed. Put together pretty quick with 3 people. No word instructions just pictures. Fast delivery. All my friends love it and are looking for their kids. The only problem so far is the tent walls keep falling down. Only secured with double sided tape. Maybe a zipped attached would be better. Overall great bed for the cost and my son loves it.

Comments about Alexander Tent Twin Loft Bed with Slide:
The bed itself is okay. It is not super sturdy, but it will do the job for my five-year-old for how long he will want to use it. The major problem with this purchase was shipping. It ships in two packages, and one of them was lost in transit. It was found, but only after I had cancelled the order two days before I received a call that it was being delivered. It was really late (obviously) and no one in the company seemed to be able to know what the shipping company was doing. Communication really broke down there for sure. That said, whenever I called the customer service reps did what they could (even though it wasn't much...) to help me. Would I order this bed again and go through the same thing? No. But, if it all went without a problem with the shipping, I likely would. (It was damaged in the shipping process, too)

The original order went in May 19, 2012........that order was lost in the warehouse!!! No one called to say it was being delivered so no one was home to receive it! That order got cancelled. A new order went in and arrived a few days ago...
the bed is great....however, the condition of the boxes was very poor. They were broken and re-taped together. Luckily all the parts were there. If this bed wasn't so darn cute I would have cancelled all together. Customer Service was very helpful but I do not want that experience again so I will not be using Hayneedle again!

My two elderly kids have that bed, and I will now buy one for the 3rd kid (3 years old). They love it, and it saves room. It is very solid and easy to set up (takes approx q2 hrs).
