I use it to hold small appliances that I don't have room on the counter for, such as the bread machine and the Kitchen aid Mixer. I have it against a window but because of the design it does not block any light coming in.

Overall, a worthwhile product. It has allowed us to display our Kitchenaid, T-fal Fyer, slow-cooker and larger bowls while freeing up valuable cabinet space. While we like the white, there was some paint chipping on some of the joints, just enough to be annoying. A flat surface insert would be a nice addition for one of the three shelves. I would, however, still recommend this item for both its utility and stability.
