The addition of the white nylon top to the Ashbury 5-foot Storage Bench with Waterproof Lid provides maximum protection from nearly any weather condition. Cedar wood already provides some protection against rotting and insects. You can rest assured when you store your gardening tools in this bench they will be protected. With waterproof glue, epoxy-coated screws, and stainless-steel hinges, we are confident our Ashbury Storage Bench will far exceed your stringent quality standards. Simple assembly is required.

What is the difference between the natural and clear coat finish?

Over time and with exposure to the outdoor elements, cedar will turn a lovely silver gray color as it ages. If you enjoy the fresh, natural color of cedar and would like your storage bench to weather naturally, you should select the "Natural" finish option.

The "Clear Coat" finish is a non-glossy, linseed oil-based sealer that we apply to the bench's exterior to protect it from the elements and prolong the weathering process. To allow the cedar to breathe and fully retain its natural insect-repelling properties, we leave the inside of the bench untreated, thus the interior of a clear-coated bench will appear slightly lighter than the outside. Clear-coated cedar will assume an attractive pale yellow color as it ages.

What is the waterproof lid made out of?
Our Waterproof Lid is a great addition to your cedar storage bench purchase. It is made of half-inch white nylon and is a commercial-grade cutting board material. You will have the beauty and durability of a cedar storage bench with the waterproofness of a plastic. This product is a must for anyone ordering a cedar storage bench that will be fully subject to the elements.
I'd like to match my other existing outdoor pieces. Can I stain this product?
Cedar wood takes stains wonderfully. There are many colors on the market today and for outdoor items, adding a coat every year or so will keep your furniture looking vibrant and new. If you are looking to paint your storage bench, we'd recommend applying an outdoor primer as your base and using two coats of outdoor paint.
