About Fir Wood
Fir has characteristics very similar to Cedar. Well known for its combination of stability and light weight, it is commonly used in furniture, both here and abroad. While being naturally weather-resistant, it may be further stained or finished to endure and age gracefully for many years. If left unfinished, the wood will fade to a silver gray when used outdoors. Like Cedar, the grain is usually straight and displays prominent growth rings and knots.

I bought two of these and the matching table. The chairs really are great looking. The dark color makes them appear very expensive and rich. The quality is not 100%, as the wood is very soft and light and there were two small wooden screws (not completely necessary ones) that pulled out from the wood in transport. They are the worth the price, however, as they were easy to assemble, and look fabulous.

My two chairs have been beckoning neighbors to join us in the yard since September, 2010 (9 months). They are beautiful. Unfortunately, the built-in ottoman has no arc, and is rather uncomfortable without a pillow under the knees. Also - one armrest has already broken off, and the other chair's ottoman has cracked from my 50-pound child sitting on it, and 50 pounds is not that heavy! As I labeled this review, you do get what you pay for...[$] can be inexpensive, or in this case, cheap. Alas, how I wish they were a bit more solidly constructed. I may try again with the Hampton, which seems to be a more substantial chair from it's reviews.

I suppose the best I can say about these chairs is: Caveat Emptor! You get what you pay for. The wood is very, very thin, so much so that while unpacking them my short fingernails left scratches on the chairs, which are made of very flimsy fir strips of wood on which a very thin layer of stain has been applied. You will need to polyurethane them with at least several coats, and then it is unlikely that they will last two seasons unless brought indoors whenever it rains.

Not as big or sturdy as other Adirondack chairs we own. Several areas were scratched right out of the package. A major draw for me was that it was already finished, but it's only stained, not varnished.

I LOVE THE LOOK OF THESE CHAIRS. I ORDERED TWO OF THEM FOR MY PATIO. COLOR WAS NOT AS DARK AS I WAS HOPING BUT ACTUALLY LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.. VERY COMFORTABLE. ONLY CON IS THE PULL OUT OTTOMAN ON ONE WAS NOT SECURE AND COMES OUT EASILY WHEN YOU PULL IT.

We love having the chairs on our backyard patio. They look great and are incredibly comfortable - very relaxing. Easy to assemble. Some of the would was slightly chipped, but overall in very good condition.
