Comments about TeleVue Bino Vue Binocular Viewer for Telescopes:
This bino is a toy that will make you say "wow" as soon as you aim your scope on the moon. It feels as if you are there. I cannot say that it is "3-D" as some other owners of this item claim, but it is definitely different. Jupiter seems to float in space instead of just being there. Saturn is crystal clear when you combine this huge eyepiece with the Meade 5000 16mm SWA EPs. It's so good you can see the ice caps on Mars too. It might work on DSOs but the only gain there would be reduced eyestrain from using two eyes instead of one.
It is heavy and when you add the 2X amplifier it becomes heavier. That amplifier is anything but a toy too. Excellent optics all the way. It is expensive but it made my Celestron C8 a much better scope.
I did find a few things that I did not like. The side covers are plastic while they should have been made of aluminum. Reducing the weight with cheap plastic was not the way to go. A $1000+ accessory must be made of top quality material throughout. The plastic does not affect the performance of course but it should not have been used. The second issue that bothers me is that if you use tall eyepieces you won't be able to merge the two pictures. Try small eyepieces about 2-3 inches high. Last is the box. For such an expensive item an aluminum case should have been included, not a paper box.
Overall I am very happy with it. It's a keeper and if you don't have one you are missing out a lot.
