If you are interested in getting to know the night sky without spending a small fortune, this telescope is a good place to start.

This telescope is big enough to view nebula, star clusters, some galaxies, and of course the moon and planets, while being light enough to be extremely portable.

The go-to feature can and SHOULD be used to teach yourself the night sky.

The only upgrade this scope needs right off the bat are eyepieces. I would consider a 20mm Plossl for deep sky objects, and a 6-10mm for planets. Also, a light pollution filter will greatly enhance deep-sky viewing.

No question, this scope will show you enough to more than wet your appetite and help you decide if your ready to upgrade to a bigger scope down the road to really fill you up!

THE ONLY GOOD THINGS ABOUT IT IS THE RED DOT SIGHT, THE GOTO FEATURE WHEN SETUP AND THE PUSH BUTTON CONTROLS. IT IS GOOD FOR BEGINNERS AND KIDS. THIS ITEM CANNOT "SEE" ANYTHING AT HIGHER POWERS AND PROPPER EYEPIECES WILL MOT WORK PROPPERLY ON IT BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO HEAVY FOR THE DRIVE MECHANISM.

Comments about Bushnell NorthStar 900x114 Motorized Starfinder Telescope:

i gave up trying to see the moon, stars or planets with this scope. it was a gift i selected out of my company's catalog for 20 years service...but i have binoculars that are better for viewing the night sky. the setup is compicated, with a very primitive type in method for setting up your location. honestly, i can see Andromeda, the moons of Jupiter and the craters of the moon sharper than with the fuzzy optics of this dinosaur.

Comments about Bushnell NorthStar 900x114 Motorized Starfinder Telescope:

The Tripod is so unstable as to make the scope frustrating to use, the motors used in the scope are cheap and break down with any type of regular use. The focuser is stiff to the point of knocking the scope out of alignment when trying to focus. The customer service at bushnell is terrible, they are less than concerned with their astronomy customers. overall this is a big expensive paperwieght.

              Customer Q & A

              8 Questions About This Product
Q: "Is this a refractor or reflector?"
A: This telescope is a reflector telescope.
Q: "What are the suitable solar and moon filters for this telescope?"
A: Currently Bushnell does not make a solar filter for this model of scope.
Q: "This is a computerized tracking scope. Is it possible to do the tracking manually instead of automatically?"
A: You only have to use the computerized tracking if you want to.
Q: "What are the shipping dimensions and overall tube length?"
A: The shipping dimensions are approximately length 3' x width 2' x height 1' the tube length is approximately 2.5'.
Q: "Is this new, or refurbished, used etc?"
A: All scopes that we carry are brand new.
Q: "When I am focusing my telescope, everything is upside down in it, I am just wondering how to fix this problem?"
A: Upside down images are normal for a reflector telescope. This isn't a problem when viewing celestial objects, because there is no up or down in space, and a round object is round, whether it's upside down or not. Upside down images are a problem, however, when one is viewing terrestrial objects. Unfortunately, there isn't a complete cure. You can improve matters to a great degree with a device like the Zhumell Erecting Eyepiece; however, you will still need to align your body with the telescope's axis in order to view objects right side up.
Q: "When aligning the eyepiece and the red dot finder scope I cannot focus in on anything. How do I focus the eyepiece? So far all I have gotten is a blurred image?"
A: For assistance with the GoTo 675x4.5 Inch scope, your best bet is to contact the manufacturer. The folks in Bushnell's Customer Service department know their telescopes inside and out and are the best source of information on your scope. Here's the toll-free number so you can get the information you need: 1-800-423-3537.
Q: "I cannot seem to be able to see galaxies or nebuleas with this product. I understand how to use this, but I cannot pinpoint a faraway object. When I enter align the telescope exactly it says I got only 4 stars and doesn't find objects with close accuracy?"
A: It sounds as though you need technical support from Bushnell. Here's the toll-free number so you can get the help you need: 1-800-423-3537.
