Designed for the first time buyer - offering exceptional value, the AstroMaster series features a compact and portable design with ample optical performance to excite any newcomer to the world of amateur astronomy.
Which AstroMaster Telescope model best fits your needs?
If you're looking for a dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the AstroMaster Series is for you. Each AstroMaster model is capable of giving correct views of land and sky. The AstroMaster Series produce bright, clear images of the Moon and planets. It is easy to seethe moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with every one of these fine instruments. For views of the brighter deep space objects like galaxies and nebulae, we recommend the larger aperture and light gathering ability of the Newtonian reflectors.
If your interest is strictly watching whales, spotting birds, viewing nature, or checking out your favorite star or planet the altazimuth-mounted models are ideal. Alt-Az models have a convenient pan handle with built-in clutch for easy targeting and smooth motion. Models featuring the German Equatorial mount are a good choice for viewing stars, nebulae, star clusters, and planets. Built-in setting circle aids in locating these objects.
When used for astronomical viewing, AstroMasters yield breathtaking views of the Moon, Saturn with its ring structure, Jupiter and its belts and moons, nebulae and star clusters.
Every instrument features all glass optical elements as well as smooth operating steel tripod mountings featuring manual motion controls. All models feature coated optics for enhanced image brightness and clarity.

Comments about Celestron AstroMaster 76 EQ Reflector Telescope:
I bought this telescope because of how cheap it was and I knew nothing about astronomy. The parts are very good quality and not a problem. You can't really go wrong if you are on a budget, I can clearly see saturn, its rings and titan. If you can afford better go for at least a 6" scope, if not, this scope will get the job done.

Comments about Celestron AstroMaster 76 EQ Reflector Telescope:
The first time I took this telescope out, I looked at Jupiter, I used the 10mm eyepiece and could see the cloud bands and it's 4 largest moons. Next planet I will look at is Saturn.
Yes the scope can be unstable but they do sell vibration dampeners. I also bought the extra eye pieces. I would recommend this telescope for your first scope.
Keep looking up!

Comments about Celestron AstroMaster 76 EQ Reflector Telescope:
For the money I paid (close to what a toy scope costs), I don't think it could get any better. Sure it is only a 4 inch scope and the eye pieces are just enough to get you by. But the construction and material quality is as the best of the celestrons. It has the equatorial mount, and it has incredible high precision.
If you are someone like me, who does not know what to expect, and only wants to invest a bit of money not knowing if you might enjoy amateur astronomy, you won't go wrong. To me this telescope did the trick: it has enough power to get me hooked and to get me serious about astronomy. I am sure that within a year, I will want to spend much more money on a 10 or 12 inch telescope. For now, I just order a good set of lenses to try with. One bit at time...
