Comments about Celestron Regal 100 F-ED Spotting Scope:
I have been using this scope for a year now, I wouldn't trade it. I live on a lake and in the evenings ducks, swans and loon fly in for the night. Even when you can't see them with your eyes, this scope gathers light so well the ducks etc are identifable.
I have also used it for stars, planets and the moon. It's excellent.

Comments about Celestron Regal 100 F-ED Spotting Scope:
I own four scopes and two binoculars. I bought this scope for the zoom features and the portability. I decided to use my Nagler 7mm eyepiece with this machine. While the Nagler gave wide 82 degree fields and sharp star/planetary images, it exhibited color fringing on the periphery. The included zoom 22x to 67x minimizes any chromatic abberations and gives a central image identical to the $330.00 Nagler. The only problem with this scope is nonparfocal zooming and the need for a good right angled finder scope.
Is it worth them money? Yes! Is it a Zeiss$ NO! You really do get what you pay for. I own a Celestron CR-6 which gives better images because of its longer F/8 to F/12 focal lengths. I am contented with the excellent images of terrestial and astronomical objects. Celestron did a good job on this instrument.
