This product allows me to view the stars at any given moment. The wide field of view will show the moon and other planets when close to each other. I use a telescope but find the binoculars show the planets bright colors sparkling in the sky. It is clear which planet is Venus and which is Mars. I use my binoculars daily and love them. I live in AZ and have clear skies. They make a grand addition to my telescope. I am thrilled with my purchase.

This is a good product, but I also found the diopter focus very difficult to adjust. Likewise for me in the particular application of astronomy the binoculars remain shakey without a very good tripod. I also found a used pair of 7x35 which are smaller and do almost as good a job in scanning the sky, for one fifth of the price! That pair is not waterproof nor can it be attached to a tripod!
I would recommend these to a perfectionist for this application but for someone who simply wants to see a lot more stars and objects in the sky 7x35 is fine.

Comments about Celestron SkyMaster 8x56mm Binoculars:
You can always jugde the quality of an item by its price. This is a quality pair of binos and you can tell when you look through them. Clear crisp images of the stars and pretty much anything you want to look at. This is also a great price, if you can afford the few extra bucks go for it. You won't be dissapointed.

Comments about Celestron SkyMaster 8x56mm Binoculars:
We use it to bird watch on our lake. The main gripe I have is that when I bought it with the tripod, I went to assemble them and there is no adapter for the binocular to mount onto the tripod[...] So, after I received the binocular and tripod and was ready to use them, I had to get online and purchase the adapter separate.
