I wanted something for my wife that would not clutter the night stands, take up room or be just a basic jewerly box. This item has a nice tempered glass front and was scratch free. The wood is even and well stained. I would give it an 8 out of 10 for construction.
I would suggest reviewing the dimensions of this item and making sure you have the space to install it, and of course the know how.
After reading the previous reviews I also knew I would have to possibly modify/enhance certain parts of it in order for it to function properly. It is well made but there are a few things that needed correcting, and these things apprear to be overlooked in manufacturing. No Biggie!!!
Upon unboxing, everything appeared in order. I found the braclet bar detached due to those short stripped screws that previous buyers mentioned. Easy fix and well needed.
The mounting brackets on the back were removed and I used longer and slightly thicker screws with 1/8th thick nylon spacers to reinstall them. The spacers allowed a better gap between the armoire and the bracket which allows the mounting screw to fit better.
Don't use the screws that came with this to mount it!!!! I used 3.5 inch concrete Tapcons. The wall this was installed on backed up to my patio. So I drilled through the sheetrock and into the block. I installed the Tapcons, tigtened them down just enough to slide the armoire on. It came out PERFECT!!!!
This item is functional as a photo box and I would say a hidden jewerly box. Because of the way I installed it. You dont see the hinges and it appears like an ordinary wall box frame.
This item is well worth the investment. Google Hayneedle for promo codes ...... I saved another 10% at the checkout just with a quick search!!!!

Nice looking product has some drawbacks. Door with glass and pictures is heavy and the frame and hinges don't seem to be solid enough to prevent some sag. Earring holders don't seem to be very useful especially for small post earrings. Chain and necklace storage is very good. Color and finish are attractive. The supplied hardware didn't seem sufficient for mounting on a plaster wall. I got some hollow wall anchors. A potentially great product that comes off as only good. I would recommend with reservations.

I really like the idea of this box and was very excited to get it. However, I was sad to see that some of the negative reviews I'd read regarding this item were indeed true. 1.) It is very heavy; much heavier than I had anticipated, 2.) The lock is on the bottom and, when upright, the upper right hand corner does want to stay open rather than holding shut with the mangnets.
Also, the product came with one of the earring racks on the left side broken. This was also disappointing.
However, the customer service at this company has been excellent thus far. The person with whom I spoke after opening and seeing the product was broken was very helpful. He issued me a free return shipping label for fed ex promptly and gave me no arguments when I did not want to re-order the product. I dropped this at fedex yesterday so my refund has yet to be processed, but I assume this should go smoothly as well.
Overall - disatisfied with the product but very satisfied with the company's customer service.
