Description
Don't let the name fool you. Bachelors, bachelorettes, the happily married, and everyone in between will love the cool elegance of the City Club Oxford Bachelors Chest. Where to begin? There's so much to love about this bachelors chest, which radiates Old World wonder with its channel-set molding, side columns, and slightly protruding top drawer. Then there's the drawers themselves, which include brass-finished hardware with back plates that keep the knobs from spinning and jarring loose. Best of all, between the tapered bun feet, you'll find an under-mount floor light with its own dimmer switch. Before-bed reading never shined like this.
Made in the USA from maple and select hardwood solids with cherry and mahogany veneers, this bachelors chest is finished in a reddish-brown color called Blair. To really make this chest top dog, add the optional marble top to your order. The top is natural marble with sage-colored veins, but no two marble pieces are alike, thanks to the swirls, veins, and speckles caused by natural mineral processes. Pair the bachelors chest with other pieces in the City Club collection for the complete look.

The City Club Collection
Inspired by antique design but not stiffened by tradition, the City Club collection by Stanley Furniture is for those looking for traditional style with an urban touch. Inspired by the best from Chippendale, Sheraton, and 18th Century Federal designs, City Club puts hardwoods first, showcasing warm, soft finishes and centuries-old craftsmanship. Classic veneers resonate under hand-waxed polish, with a variety of gentle distressing techniques like burnishing and rub-through offering lasting longevity.
Stanley Furniture Craftsmanship
Stanley Furniture's main objective is to produce quality and stylish furniture by using the best wood materials, construction procedures, and elegant finishes on their products to help you fashion your home decor the way you imagined. All of their furniture is hand-crafted from quality woods, incorporating other superior materials such as aluminum, glass, plastic, leather, and marble. Every joint is carefully constructed (keeping wood's sensitivity to heat and humidity in mind) allowing for expansion and contraction. All joints are held together with glue and nail.
Stanley's 30-step finishing process starts with an undertone stain that is applied to a hand-sanded piece. Next, the stain is sealed with a wash coat, then hand sanded again with filler applied to pack the wood pores and smooth out the surface. A sealer coat is then applied, the piece is hand sanded again, and hand padded to mellow the tone. From there, a luster glaze is rubbed on by hand, followed by antiquing or distressing also done by hand. Finally, after drying, each piece is hand waxed and rubbed prior to final inspection.

Care
Do not place your furniture in direct sunlight and/or a damp area. Arrange your furniture so it is not placed in front of or over heating or air conditioning vents. Avoid placing furniture directly under windows. Be careful not to place plastic materials (place mats, lamp bases, notebooks, etc.) on your furniture. Certain plastics have ingredients that may react with and damage the finish. Occasionally rotate accessories so they do not remain in the same spot for extended periods. Avoid creating marks on your furniture by placing a piece of felt, cloth, or leather under accessories. Lift objects from the top surface rather than dragging them across the finish when moving them. Use a protective pad when using your furniture as a writing surface (especially when using a ballpoint pen). Wipe up spills promptly. Water left over a prolonged period of time will cause white spots in the finish, and alcohol, perfume, after-shave, and medicines can cause severe damage to the finish. Dust frequently with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. To remove accumulated dust or old furniture wax buildup, use a soft, lint-free cloth which has been dampened in a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Dry thoroughly using a clean, lint-free cloth, and then apply furniture polish, wiping it in the direction of the wood grain. It's recommended that the furniture be polished every six months.
