I bought this unit for my living room and it complements it perfectly. It is not as dark as it seems in the picture. Like the description says, it is the color of a strong espresso. It is very easy to put together, with one caveat that I will point out later. It accomodates a 50 in. TV very easily and you can stack two items on top of each other beneath the glass top. I have a satellite receiver and a vcr there. The side shelves are pretty much what they are in the picture. You can probably store a Wii there but it's not wide enough for anything else. The shelf heights are adjustable. The fireplace provides good heat for a nice size living room, but if you have a living room with an open dining room or other large room that you can't close off it will not be sufficient when it gets too cold. The remote control is a must. The only thing that I did not like about it is that you can't adjust the temperature with the remote. You can only do that manually on the fireplace itself. Now for the caveat that I spoke of. When you assemble this unit DO NOT install the glass doors or place the glass top. The reason is that with the way you have to insert the mounting bracket after the fireplace is in place you will have to lay the unit down on it's front, so make sure you have a partner for this part. There is not enough space to get your hand inside and start the screws enough to make them set if you try to do it with the unit upright. I bought another unit and the mounting bracket was at the back of the fireplace and was very easy. These brackets are along both sides of the front of the fireplace and make mounting them very difficult. As I said before it was very easy to put togehter other than this so don't let that discourage you from buying, especially since I have saved you the time that I wasted with this little tip. It is a very solid unit once it is together and you will not be disappointed.
