About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.
The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.
Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.
We take your family's safety seriously. That's why all of our bunk beds come with a bunkie board, slat pack, or metal grid support system. These provide complete mattress support and secure the mattress within the bunk bed frame. Please note: Bunk beds and loft beds are only to be used by children 6 years of age or older.

Although this piece is very nice to look at, I was disappointed when I assembled this bed and realized it was not all I had hoped. There were several incomplete sections in the stain, the packages were damaged in shipping and took an extended time to get replacements, holes were not drilled thoroughly for installation, and instructions were not in the boxes, and to boot, I had chosen this bed over another website's because of the free mattresses, but the mattresses are a waste of materials. They are not comfortable or provide any support. (Luckily my children are small and don't notice.) When the piece is assembled, it also sways with light touches. Overall, it is nice to look at, but I am worried about the piece as my boys get bigger and whether it will be stable enough to support them.

Comments about Columbia Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:
Extremely glad we chose this one over the many we reviewed. Great quality and eventhough it came with no instructions, it was easy and quick to put together. It also arrived earlier than expected which was a great plus since we bought this for our grandchildren's visits and they were coming the day it was delivered.

Comments about Columbia Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:
I am so pleased with my purchase. The beds were delivered as promised. The construction is excellent and sturdy and the caramel latte color is beautiful. These beds will be used when grand children visit so we probably won't need to replace the slats with a piece of ply board as other buyers have suggested. The slats seem to be sturdy enough for our use. My husband put the beds together without any difficulties, but he is very handy. I plan to buy another set for another guest room.

Comments about Columbia Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:
Bed arrived early, happy with shipping speed. Boxes were completely unrestrained in the truck when delivered and had fallen over, so my husband was worried about it being damaged, but we had no damaged parts, it was packaged well.
When setting it up, the directions say to assemble the top bed first, then the bottom, then lift the top onto the bottom. This works well if you have a LARGE room and can fit both beds plus boxes, tools, and yourself and any "little helpers" in the room, otherwise definatly build the bottom bunk, then assemble the top one on top of it.
We are happy with this bed, it seems sturdy and assembly was very simple. The only things I would like to see a bit better is the railings on the top bunk wobble a bit as they are only secured by 2 1" screws. They are not going anywhere and won't fall off because they are designed to fit snuggly over the sides, but if kids get real rough I could see them breaking off. Overall beautifull color and happy with my purchase.
***The free mattresses are OK, they will work for now for 2 young children, but they are worth what you paid for them***

Comments about Columbia Twin over Twin Bunk Bed:
After just over a year, the guard rail on this bunk bed (which was always flimsy) broke off. I had been standing on the bottom wrung of the ladder to kiss my daughter good night, holding the guard rail for balance, when it snapped. I am 5 ft. 2 and weight 110 pounds. Simply Bunk Beds was unable to help us find a replacment part, and told us to "call a carpenter."
