Shhh... the Costa del Sol Barcelona Stateroom Media Chest has a secret. The traditional, Spanish-style columns swing out to reveal a pair of matching cubbies with shelves for handy DVD storage. Even the top drawer has a little secret: the double, drop-down front reveals a self-contained electrical outlet for plugging in your DVD player. Below, two full-sized drawers give you plenty of storage for media gadgets or extra clothes.

This media chest is constructed of a durable blend of maple, mahogany, and select hardwood solids. The walnut, hickory, maple, and burl veneers are finished in a hand-rubbed Dark Woodtone that enhances the antique-flamed, brass-finished pulls and knobs. For added strength, some simulated wood components are used on select pieces in the Costa del Sol collection.

Old-World wood grain is brought to vivid life with rustic mid-tone finishes or hand-rubbed dark coffee colors, buffed to a soft satin glow. Authentic distressing techniques like burnishing, cow-tailing, and axe marks enhance the well-loved heirloom appearance of each item in this matching collection.

Stanley's 30-step finishing process starts with an undertone stain that is applied to a hand-sanded piece. Next, the stain is sealed with a wash coat, then hand sanded again with filler applied to pack the wood pores and smooth out the surface. A sealer coat is then applied, the piece is hand sanded again, and hand padded to mellow the tone. From there, a luster glaze is rubbed on by hand, followed by antiquing or distressing also done by hand. Finally, after drying, each piece is hand waxed and rubbed prior to final inspection.
