Darling, but flimsy

This dog house was darling and a great price! We were excited to get it and set it up, our dog seemed to be interested and went right inside it and we thought everything was good! However, my husband and I are both teachers, so we're gone during business hours, which is why we ordered the dog house so that our large dog would have somewhere warm and dry to curl up during bad weather. After two days of the house being in the back yard, our dog had ripped most of the wood off the roof of the house. Apparently, the boards are just glued to paper that is stapled to the roof, so with minimal tugging, our dog pulled them off and scattered them across the yard. We will try and replace the weather-proof paper and nail the boards to the roof, but the look of the house is completely ruined and I don't know how weather proof the house is any more. I would not recommend this product for an active dog or puppy as it is built to be handled delicately. It was so cute and I am bummed that it is already trashed!!

Bought it for two outdoor cats. Should be fine once they get used to it. Added a 75watt light inside to bump up the inside temperature when it gets below 40 degrees. May add some insulation if the light bulb isn't enough. As for the house, I am quite please with the construction and the ease of assembling it.
