When designing the Field Club Croquet Set, we wanted it to stand the test of time. We envisioned each piece of the set to be upgraded in quality from those available at department stores.
We started by imporving the construction of the bag to facilitate storing and carrying effciency. This included pockets for each piece to be securely kept inside the bag. Mallets have also been upgraded in quality and size, with 8.5-inch mallet heads and 30-inch handles. They're constructed from engineered playwood with beautiful wood veneers. The set's six croquet balls are 3 5/16 inches in diameter and made of a strong poly resin that won't chip during play. We're confident that you'll be delighted with our Field Club Croquet Set!

PROS: Mallets are decently balanced and seem solid (well, they're plywood with veneers, but I mean solid in a more metaphorical sense). Wickets are a nice thick gauge, which is a plus in a lower-end set like this.CONS: While this doesn't really effect play, the finishing details leave a lot to be desired. A kiddie set often has better detailing than this. The stakes are slightly warped and poorly painted, and some of the routing and painting on the mallets and stakes is rough and leaves something to be desired for a [$] set (lines on the stakes are uneven, small chips in the tip of both stakes, rough routing and pit filling, etc). That said, the product does come with a warranty for workmanship, so if we really wanted to, we could return it. Overall it's functional, and plays better than a $50 big-box-store set, so we're hanging on to it.

Perfect quality set for beach croquet with deep wickets, solid and smooth mallets and chip free polyresin balls plus carry bag for portable use! Only issue is mallets and balls dent/ mark up easily but that is to be expected with beach use and rough use with shells, etc. I would have liked a better finish on the mallets!

Calling the game "Through" - when you're through the first wicket, you recount your first kiss - through with that! Pass the second wicket, tell about your first slow dance - through with that, too!
