This was not what I expected it to be. I thought it was a vinyl or plastic floor for a dog cage. It's not, it is a wire grate similar to the construction of the wire cage. That said, I almost sent it back. My beagle chews up everything that you put in her cage as far as dog beds, carpet, floor mats or anything short of steel. I've had to resourt to lining the plastic pan with old bath towels, because I don't want her laying on the plastic all day, she chews on them too but there old towles so who cares. This floor grate holds them in place. So, it works for what I wanted even though it was not what I thought that I was buying.

I keep my dogs in my basement when I am not home - this keeps my dog off the floor, and also provides a "cushioned" floor for him
