Description
FurnaceFilters.com High Capacity Pleated Furnace Filters are MERV 11 rated according to ASHRAE 52.2 standards and available in 1-inch, 2-inch, and 4-inch depths. The electrostatically charged, 100 percent synthetic, graduated density media is continuously bonded to a 30-gauge galvanized, corrosion-resistant, expanded metal support grid with an effective open area of 96 percent. The media is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, does not absorb moisture, and will not support microbial growth.
The controlled pleat spacing maximizes surface area and dust-holding capacity and is bonded to the enclosure frame to prevent dust bypass. The enclosure frame is constructed of high wet-strength, moisture-resistant beverage board. The diagonal support members of the frame are bonded to the entering and exiting apexes of each pleat to prevent pleat collapse and filter bowing while preventing air bypass and providing rigidity.
1-inch depth filters: 18 pleats per linear foot; 2-inch depth filters: 12 pleats per linear foot; 4-inch depth filters: 11 pleats per linear foot

We like the 2" filters as they provide greater surface area & less airflow restriction. These filters are high quality & have a high MERV. We bought a bunch at once so there's no excuse for not changing the filter regularly. We run the AC fan 24/7 in summer, which allows the filters to really reduce allergens. 2" filters undoubtedly take up more storage space than 1", but they do a better job -- so if your furnace has room for them, go for it.

My furnace uses 16x25x4 filters which are pricey at the local home center. So I tried something I found online for less. Bad idea. The filters I received have to be shimmed so that the air doesn't just blow by. They're not as sturdy and the pleats are all over the place.
