you need to have A LOT of time on your hands in order to assemble this house. not the best thing to do if you have children under the age of 5 or 6 at home. roof tiles can easily break, so handle with care. older kids know to treat the house gently, whereas the younger ones do not. and storing in a "safe" place while constructing it is also a bit of a pain. you need a rather large work station and place to store your materials when building it.
otherwise, once built, it really is pretty and fun to play with. :)

This is the first dollhouse I ever owned. My grandparents built it for me over 20 yrs ago. I can't comment on the assembly, but I can tell you this dollhouse lasts. It looks the same today as it did when I got it, and I look forward to when my children will be old enough to enjoy it.

The assembly was more involved than I thought, but the directions are great and it's turned out to be more fun and quality-time inducing just to put it together. My daughter is 8 and we're really enjoying the project together. The details are amazing. I'm very impressed. I'm totally addicted at this point and I'm planning to do a whole village of dollhouses and stores.

The directions are easy to follow once you understand the number and lettering system. The schematics of the sheets are very helpful. I did discover that some of the wood cuts were a little off and a couple of pieces warped a little after removing from the main sheet. A couple of heavy books on the offending pieces worked fine. The xacto knife works well to shave off and modify pieces to fit better.
