This tumbler is very well designed and really gets results quickly. My wife and I live in Southern California so the temperature stays just right for composting. We took a risk adding coco fiber to the mix and planting it in the ground early (about 1.5-2 weeks) to see if it would keep composting and it did. Not that it would have been much longer for a nice batch to come out. The design is top notch and we've already used the compost tea function. One note however, if you use the compost tea, you may have to add water to dilute some of the larger particles as the flow may otherwise be low. This also gives you a higher yield which the plants LOVE. Only use rain water though; city junk will wilt your plants. The last thing I want to point out is the handle design. Absolutely needed and not seen on most composters. The top slatted (?) handles not only make it easy to turn, but there's no problem when you want to pull the drum off the base. I can't tell you how many times we've used this feature. We could lose the base forever and we'd still be satisfied. Well done Good Ideas.

This is a great idea, attractive, and easy to make compost in. However, they REALLY need to work on the lid. It is very difficult to make it thread properly, requiring both hands and several attempts. Also, it should be noted that this composter must be set up on blocks in order to drain the "tea". And if your mix is wet, "tea" is going to leak out of the drain holes (and possibly onto you) every time you spin it. Therefore, I recommend adding your new compost before you spin, and making sure to leave it with the lid up! Nonetheless, I still like the idea and may add a second one, especially if they improve the lid.

Comments about Good Ideas 52 Gallon Recycled Plastic Compost Tea Tumbler:
I would have given it a higher rating except I had to drill the holes in the base where the 'tea' is supposed to collect.
I have had it set up for over a month and still do not have usable compost despite following the guidelines.
It's all good though...it keeps my compost off the ground. I am sure that I will eventually get nice compost out of it.

Comments about Good Ideas 52 Gallon Recycled Plastic Compost Tea Tumbler:
The holes that are supposed to be along the tracks for the tea to drip out into the bottom bin are not there. There is an indication of where they should be, but they were not completed. I will have to do that myself. Your compmany wanted me to return it and they would send a new one. That is not an option I want to consider. Also, there were no instructions on how to install the spigot that came with the composter. In all, I am very dissappointed with this purchase.
