When I found this easel, I was very excited. I had been looking endlessly at my local stores for an easel that could serve as both a work service and a display for arts & craft shows. I wanted something that did not take up too much room, kept the canvas secure, but was easy to travel and stored easily.
You can either have the canvas facing away from your table, or towards the table surface. If you turn it towards the table surface (facing opposite of the picture here), it does not accommodate a 28" canvas fully. What I mean by this is, you can set the canvas on there, but the top channel that holds it on will be too high and will not screw on. It will just balance there. If you don't need the top canvas channel, or if you don't mind that it is just balancing, then you should be just fine. Otherwise, I think it would probably accommodate up to a 24" or 26" canvas this way.
Otherwise, the quality the sturdiness is very good. The easel balances well, secures the table easily, and seems like a great product for the money. I am definitely keeping it because it pretty much does everything I need, except for the one problem mentioned above. That is why I gave it four stars instead of five.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs to display a canvas or use an easy attached to their work surface. It is amazing how much space it saves. Setup is easy and quick.
On a side note: Alvin as a company is very friendly and helpful. They answered a lot of my questions and were willing to pull products and try them out on my behalf. Highly recommended.

This is a good solid easel and wonderful for small to medium, light weight paintings. It could be used as a watercolor easel. Get two, one for your painting and one to prop your palette on, so you can have it right up next to your work.

I purchased this easel for going back and forth to class. The first time I went to use it we wondered how sturdy it actually would be, but it worked out GREAT. It was very sturdy and very easy to assemble. Only drawback might be if you are trying to hook it on a table with a lip, I actually was using it on a wood block table.
Great purchase and I would definitely purchase again from this retailer. I thought the price was great for the product received.
