Jaques Isle of Lewis Chess PiecesItem#: HN-JA133
What's Not Included
No chess pattern has a greater history than the Jaques Lewis Chess Set. Discovered in the sandbanks of Scotland by a local shepherd in 1831, the Isle of Lewis set is the world's oldest complete set of chessmen. Whereas the originals are carved from walrus tusks by 12th century Norwegians, this replica has been handcrafted from ground marble resin. The antiqued ivory and blood red pieces are identical to the famous pieces now housed in the British Museum and Museum of Edinburgh. There is no board included here, just the impeccable chessmen collection with 3.5 inch king, but rest assured that a set of this quality complements any board or table.
