Oval doufeu, Lid

Description

If you want to know a secret even your super-cook grandmother and mother don't know, get the Le Creuset L2584-3267 7.25 qt. Oval Doufeu - Cherry to bake up impossibly tender meats every time. Here's how it works: After preparing the meat, place ice cubes in the doufeu's lid, then tuck it all into the oven. Condensation will form on the bottom surface of the lid, then the drops will fall onto the meat, evenly basting it without lifting the lid in a way that is otherwise impossible. Heavy-enameled cast iron is a long-time favorite of amateur and professional cooks everywhere because cast iron qualities make it easy to cook foods right every time. First and foremost, it distributes heat slowly and evenly, so food cooks consistently and stays warm in the pan. The lid seals very tight and captures heat inside the pan, on the stovetop or in the oven, so natural flavors blend deliciously. The enamel surface resists wear, and cleanup is simple. The smooth sand-colored interior releases food easily, and no soaking or scrubbing is required. Not only that, but the bright color of Le Creuset enameled cast iron cookware adds joy to your kitchen, as well. So... your mom and grandma don't know everything about cooking and now it's your turn to show them something they don't know.

How to Use your Cookware

  • Remove labels and wash before using
  • Follow stove manufacturer's guidelines for different types of cookware
  • Lift - do not slide - across glass stove tops and set down gently
  • Allow food to cool before placing into refrigerator or freezer
  • Use low-to-medium stovetop settings; use high heat only for boiling and liquid reduction
  • Use utensils made of silicone, heat-resistant plastic, or wood
  • Do not place pots directly onto unprotected surfaces or countertops

Cleaning & Care:

  • Allow pans to cool before rinsing or washing
  • Dishwasher-safe, but hand-washing with hot soapy water recommended; dry immediately
  • Constant dishwashing may dull the enamel finish, but won't harm the pan
  • For cooked-on residues, soak before washing
  • Fine to use nylon or soft abrasive scrubbers, but do not use metallic pads or harsh abrasives
  • Dry products thoroughly after washing; do not drain dry and do not store away while still damp
  • Check and retighten handles and knobs regularly
  • Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron is extremely durable, but avoid dropping or knocking against hard surfaces

    • About Le Creuset of America Inc.
Le Creuset is best known for its cast iron cookware, which has been used for cooking utensils since the Middle Ages. The Le Creuset factory is at Fresnoy-Le-Grand in Northern France.

In 1925, the foundry began producing cast iron by hand-casting molten iron in sand molds - still the most delicate stage of the production process. Even today, after casting, each mold is destroyed and the cookware is polished and sanded by hand then scrutinized for imperfections. Once declared good for enameling, the items are sprayed with two separate coats of enamel and fired after each process at a temperature of 800 degrees F Celsius. The enamel then becomes extremely hard and durable, making it almost completely resistant to damage during normal use. Because much of the finishing is done by hand, each Le Creuset cast iron cookware piece is completely unique. Le Creuset is an excellent choice in cookware, and one you'll appreciate for years to come.
