Installation is easy onto the tripod with the provided allen wrench. The guide pegs and level bubble makes mounting the LX200 much easier. No more stumbling around in the dark trying to locate the bolt. Although it's not required, having the tripod leveled makes tightening the bolt smoother and easier. The eyepiece holders and Autostar controller holders are nice. The 360° layout makes them more accessible. If you have a really large wide angle 2" eyepiece you'll need to be cautious the fork arms don't block access or strike it while slewing.
The one disadvantage is the tray is permanently mounted with screws, which means your tripod may no longer fit in your car's trunk. It can be installed at the observation site but then that's one more tool you'll need to carry.
