Sanderson Plumbing Products, Inc. has roots dating back to 1893. Originally founded in Chicago under a different name, Sanderson was a manufacturer of furniture, pinball machines, and toilet seats. The company moved to Mississippi in 1936 to be closer to their primary wood source. In 1954, the previous owner developed a process for molding wood seats out of sawdust and resin, creating the internationally recognized "Tuffy" brand toilet seat. In 1956, selling toilet seats to the commercial market under the Beneke name, the company introduced Magnolia Products to serve the replacement retail market. Over the next two decades, the company branched out into foreign markets.

G. N. "Bud" Sanderson purchased the company in 1983. The company was officially renamed Sanderson Plumbing Products, Inc but continued, and continues, to market their products under the Beneke and Magnolia names. Today, the company operates seven divisions, with each serving specific markets, including commercial, retail replacement, portable, aircraft, manufactured home, healthcare and handicapped, and export.
