About Mele
Emidio Mele, an Italian immigrant to the United States, came to New York City in 1896 and learned to make jewelry boxes as an apprentice before founding Mele Manufacturing in 1912. He began by designing and building elegant displays for jewelry store windows. His jewelry box-making business grew throughout the 1900s, responding to demands for boxes to hold Purple Hearts during WWII and developing as a popular household name for quality jewelry boxes. Today Mele Jewelry Box is known as the Mele Companies, which encompass various divisions under the Mele name. Now based in Utica, N.Y., Mele still upholds the family atmosphere on which it was founded and remains America's foremost name in jewelry cases.

I bought this jewelry box for my 5 year old niece & my 3 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas this year. I love the design, the colors, the sturdiness of the box and the space to put their little girl jewelry...definitely worth the price! The only thing I could complain about is it's a tad bit smaller than I thought it would be, but that's definitely not a deal-breaker for me! Love it, can't say anything but nice things about it!

I bought this box as part of a baby shower gift. I wanted something different to put a gold bangle bracelet in. It is very pretty with a nice ballerina and enough room for a baby's jewelry. It is a little delicate so I wouldn't give it to a child to play with. As soon as my daughter saw it I had to order another for my 1 year old granddaughter.
